Default browser errors when trying to add pic or check other emoticons

when I try to add pics to a thread, my browser (IE 8) says error on page and frequently asks if I want to send a report. I have 'sent a report' several times.

this also happens when I try to bring up the [more] emoticons.

occasioinally I am successful, but this is a rare event.

suggestions?

Try holding down Ctrl and hitting "F5". It is possible that your cache is causing some issues.
Let me know if it helps to fix it or not.

tried it, did not help.

if attaching pics never worked, I'd expect some issue with my Norton or a basic setting. I use Norton 360.

any other suggestions?

Are you able to try out a different browser? Firefox, or Chrome perhaps?

You could also try manually deleting your cache & cookies from IE 8 to see if that eradicates the issue.

I cleared cookies/cache. browser locks up when I click "manage attachments", but it has done that in the past. but the normal result is an error and IE recovers the session.

did I say I hate Microsoft?

I would rather not inject another browser on my PC. I also turned off my 'popup blocker' and tested. same results.

I am really at a loss as to what your problem could be. Do you have antivirus program installed? Could you try disabling it momentarily and see if that clears anything up?

this issue is not isolated to Rennlist. if I am on another website and click to 'see a larger image', I get the same problem.

yes, I do have Norton 360. I disabled the popup blocker but no help. have not completely disabled Norton.

go ahead and close this thread. thanks for suggestions.

I would really like to suggest that you give firefox a whirl. You can seamlessly import all of your favourites etc from IE into it as well.

I'd wager a good bit that your issues are somehow tied to the use of IE.

cheers!

Tracker,

I use IE8 and have no such issues. I used AVG 8.5 and now Microsoft Security Essentials (both are free) with no problems.

I suspect Norton, I have banned Norton from my computers because when I used it, I had similar problems and my machine ran slow-slow-slow.

Suggest you exit Norton and try again.

Best,

Thanks for giving us further info, I am almost certain it is based on your security settings in IE8.
Go to Tools, Internet Options, Security tab - and lower your security threshold

Hopefully that fixes it for you!
