And:

https://partsavatar.ca/

For my 924s' and 928 iapcanada is the winner. In fact, you'll find that not only are their prices great but they seem to be using the same source as many of the US parts suppliers do; that is, everything comes from Florida. You pay in Cdn $, there are NO duty/taxes/import charges whatsoever but you will wait a little longer. Be patient with the site search engine. It may say that a part can't be found so try less words, synonyms (accelerator vs. throttle cable) or find a related part and invariably what you're looking for will appear on the same returned page.

Just picked up from crossboarderpickups in Mississauga, parts arrived in the US on Monday, ready for pickup Friday. Very economical. Thanks for the referral.

Hey guys
When using cross border pickups how do you know what the package size is going to be so how can you estimate costs. Also how do you know if the vendor you deal with drop ships some of it so how do you know if it will be multiple packages or not ?

Kinek, as an example, usually has a flat-rate for parcels. If you order tires, seats or motors, however, you can expect to pay more.

Certainly the vendor will let you know what has and hasn't shipped. I can see how this might be a concern as multiple packages means multiple pick-up costs. In the case of Kinek, that would mean $5 US or $6 Cdn each. With places like Amazon you can specify whether or not you want stuff sent out as a single order or as they become available. That's not likely to nullify the savings you might have made.

sorry if I miscommunicated . I was speaking specifically of the crossborders.ca site. They have a calculator but how can you use it as you have no idea what size boxes are shipping in . Do you just have It shipped and " hope for the best" ?

Normally sellers use fairly efficient way of shipping your goods, since it cuts down their costs as well. But sometimes they do break up shipments into multiple packages. One way to address this is to call the seller before placing the order and ask them to use a single box. Sometimes its not possible since products may be sourced from various warehouses/suppliers.

Most of the time it's oversize and/or overweight which they will charge extra, example is a block costs me $50 plus tax.

Big outfits ship from several warehouses, so often it will be impossible to get them to ship everything in one box. They also they don't care or are unwilling to accommodate, as it's extra work for them and everything shipping is flat rate.
Also shippers will not pack two heavy items together because they crash into each other.

Yep, hope for the best, it's still a crap-shoot.

I just got a shipment from CBS, 6 boxes could have fit in 3-4, but flywheel, clutch kit and starter were in single boxes, so the best they would have done was 4 boxes. But they didn't.

Little tip multiple boxes shipped at same time/same place it might be cheaper with FedEx.
Call before they arrive about customs, if you mention that you're thinking of self clearing I believe they give you a better rate.

I'm always looking for Canadian parts sources, but they all seem to come up short. Germanparts.ca doesn't seem to have a single part I need for VW, Audi, Porsche, or Land Rover.

FCPeuro.com (although American) has been my new go-to. Price matching, good inventory, excellent responsiveness with customer service, and the lifetime guarantee EVEN for wear items is exceptional. And they can ship via USPS which has been the most economical for me over the years.

Have you tried this lifetime guarantee thing yourself? Seems too good to be true that I can buy brake pads, wear them out, then send them back and get new ones free...for life?
