It is in with an Independent. But the bill still is going to be steep.

I know the feeling.
Drove 700+ miles from MA to VIR, did 8 laps before a/c compressor seized. When it seized the serpentine belt flew off, meaning no power steering etc. no fix possible at the track.
Packed up and hauled back home.
A lost day(s) at the track is a day never to be recovered.

What do you think you could have done to not have the coolant leak?

How do you think the track inspection should be tailored for less modern P cars out there to ensure track days are safer for you and others with you on the track?

1. I could have not run over a cone. Frankly it was a bit of a freak occurrence. If I ran over the same cone 100 more times, I couldn't expect it to damage a radiator.

2. I wouldn't fault UCR. The car was prepared well.

I am thinking of suing the cone. Does anyone know a REALLY good lawyer?

That really sucks. At least I was only an hour away from home.

996 less Modern ? are these events only designed for 991s?

well I guess I'm certainly not rolling my 78 up to that event.

yes, 996 is 1.5 decades old so no longer modern. But who ever said modern is more fun? I'm just saying modern meets higher safety standard for you and others out there out of the box 😀

Yes and no - the HVAC is non-functional but parts remain installed as a cost saving measure.
But no more a/c compressor. Replacing with the a/c delete kit.

There is always a really cool assortment of cars at the IDS events.

For last weekends event we had a couple of air-cooled and 944's, as well as a Mini, a BMW and an SUV to round it out.

The enthusiasm of the students is the higher for this that any track event. It's always a pleasure seeing so many smiling faces.

things happen at the track and on the street. Third world problem that you had to cut your day at the track with your Porsche
I had to use this analogy once when I was pissed that I had to leave a trackday early because of mechanical issues.
The more times you take your car to the track the better maintained it will be

This is not a track event.

Just skidding around in the wet avoiding (trying to) pylons.

I actually did the IDS Rod and although I had fun, I ultimately decided it just wasn't for m or my car.

Turbodan:
Third World problem is worrying about whether your house will be standing in an hour, or you'll have food tonight for the family. You meant the damage to one's Porsche at the Track is a First World. problem. No disagreement with what you were intending to say.
