Need an urgent referral to a good family lawyer in the Burlington/Oakville area.

Edit: Just talked to my lawyer, I'm just going to drive my grandfather downtown to see him. Gotta love families and estate battles. Ugh.

Yep, it's amazing what people do when money and property are involved.

Ill be having a good talk to both my kids before the fact when my time is due. If possible setting verbal expectations is imperative.

But what I also learned is that when lawyers are involved it gets very expensive. Goes on for months and months, and usually what's been spent in the estate is more or less gone.

First time it was with my wife's step Mother, now having spent and learned I'm dealing with a family situation leaning towards the gutter. So I made sure that everyone involved is accountable for their actions. Family matters require clarity, giving respect to those involved and not having family wonder is a great aspect to aim for. Open books, not I'm in charge and do as I want.

All types of family law just enrich the lawyers!! Horrible way to make a living IMO.

I can tell you some stories from wifey when she handled Estates. All based on greed mostly. One that stands out is a recording a client left on her voice mail where you could clearly hear the daughter instructing her as to what to say word for word to try and screw over her sister. I consider the lawyers fee a stupidity tax on the greedy.

My friends brother in law has stated if any of his 3 sisters get anything he will contest the will. This guy was given the family business.

Ronnie, he said he is driving his grandfather to the lawyer. So I think he is taken care of.

All is well. Took my grandfather in with all his papers to my lawyer downtown, turned out he was very confused, which had me confused. Doh!

He still gets the shaft as my grandmother left half the house to my uncle. But he can stay in it for 3 years. And the one TFSA account she had is safe, and he is the beneficiary (my uncle tried to get access to it but failed).

Not great news, but at least we now have clarity. And my sneaky uncle wasn't able to drain the TFSA.
