I have been a DIY'er my whole life but when I semi-retired I sought the assistance of a money coach who walked me through the present and the future and is not affiliated with a brokerage - basically a fee-based service which is what I wanted. I was really pleased with the decision. If interested I can PM his information. He is local to the GTA and has an office in the Niagara area as well.

Diversification in money at a very early age is the best advise I could provide. Bought a cheap(at the time) condo and paid off before I got married. Max contribution to each company stock plan I had worked for(money not seen), mutual funds at $200 per pay cheque, "sock away" $100 per week if I didn't go out for lunch...lol....seriously, and just find ways to earn extra income on the side(network consulting for me). Now the condo is being rented to generate extra income(for my car hobbies ). Principal home is close to being paid off in 13 years(damn divorce set me back...) and kids should be off on their own by then. Sell the house, sell all the sports cars, move back into the condo(perhaps flip for a new condo), collect pensions, travel like crazy (new wife is a flight attendant), perhaps a 911 to daily..... well lived 😜👍🏻

^ sounds very familiar to my situation with no divorce setback and only 1 child to worry about. We enjoy life but we also save religiously. My father retired at 55 and lives a very comfortable life and I plan to follow in his footsteps.
