Santa brought us a Q-box preloaded with Kodi, Netflix and others for Xmas.
So far, the remote doesn't work, but android apps on my cell phone or a computer mouse makes it work.
Finding an HD stream that works without a lot of refreshing has been a challenge.
Streaming in SD is simpler but with lower resolution.
Lots of choices with stream names I do not recognize.
Any tips on finding a stream that works??

2gb ram
I'm half looking for a 2nd kodi box on Amazon.
I found a review that says this time you should look for one with 2gb ram for the android os and the next version of kodi.
There seems to be a certain level of glitch you are willing to put up with when using an android based kodi box...
I've had the 1st kodi box for about a year, and sometimes it can be frustrating....

Just threw out the two hacked Bell boxes I had, the circuit board that I used to hack them. Streaming with Kodi is a lot less painful than hacking the satellites.

I am using KODI ON a shield (android box).. super fast .. .. note.. if you want to watch amazon prime, the app is not yet released on this version of Android (Shield).. other than that, XMBC KODI runs great... I use Genesys for TV and Exodus for Movies..

Call me old school, but all this complicated fiddling, waiting, searching, cobbling and hacking seems far more of a hassle than Fibe. Not cheap, but has everything I want, is reliable and is instant on all the time. An airbandb rental I was recently at had roku and it was slow, frail and frustrating. I want my tv to be an escape from software, fiddling and searching. I want it to be a "lean back" medium where I have to do next to nothing to be entertained. Fibe does that for me. As an added bonus, bell just plumbed fibre right to all the houses in my 'hood, upping speed 10x +. I'm a non-affiliated happy bell fan.

So basically if you want to just sit down and watch some TV you're ****ed without Rogers/Bell or being a goddamn IT guy?

I am sure there are other options out there. vpm with hula tv or sling tv or playstation tv or something. That is why I asked if anyone here has a good setup. I have fibe tv but not crazy about the cost and I mainly watch sports and a few shows.
btw with fibe fiber optic, I think you can still use that with tech savvy and others. They put in the fiber at my house over the summer.

We got rid of cable and our phone about 4 years ago.
We have a crappy digital antenna and only get about 4 reliable stations - but is good for news.
We use Teksavvy, Oomah for phone - it's been great, and easy to get messages, etc.
Roku, Netflix & Hulu.
I play around with Plex and 1channel - but find it finicky.
You kinda need a good friend in IT to help set everything up first!
Primarily though we watch Hulu for the primetime shows.
