Can I post a WTB Canadian air cooled car here????
All...I am not a dealer so please help in my search for another air cooled car as/ where I hope another Rennlister knows of that is not on Autotrader. Sold my 964 C2 Cab in spring - traded for a GT4....sold GT 4 now would like an interesting car 1988 through 1997 911 with Canadian history or imported from Europe with 'KM' on the clock. A museum piece is not really what I am after but not an unloved example either. Any ideas please PM me. and thank you all for reading. I want to keep this one !

Looking for a Carrera or a Turbo?
On a 'sidenote'...IMHO, the car in your display pic (or a 6GT2) is what you should look for...still love the air-cooled's, but the driving 'value' isn't there..
Cheers,

If you don't want to look on autotrader, you'll need to be prepared to wait, possible for a very long time, to find something that specific. At this time of year very few people are selling - most are tucking their cars away for the winter. Even if they want to sell, most people take their cars off the market in November because they don't want to sell at depressed prices. Couple that with the fact that you're looking for a very specific type of car and not wanting a US car, that's not going to be easy to find.
Auto trader is really the main way of selling these cars in Canada. Dealers will stock them occasionally, but they'll know nothing about them, might balk at a PPI and will usually have an inflated price. Private sellers generally go straight to auto trader.

I am open Rob to ideas..but I would like an air-cooled car given what I have (991TTS) and have coming (991.2 T4s). I like to shop for these things...enjoy them...then lose money on selling them which is a cycle I am trying to break. My dream car is a Canadian delivered 1997 993TT guards red on black sport seats with original radio 15,000 KM for $75,000 Canadian - then working it from there. ...but to your point, I liked my GT3 a lot but having it for two years and +- twenty track days, I was looking for a more comfortable Sunday driver - and I rent a Mustang at Calabogie twice a year or attend a dealer DE day to satisfy my track itch. Thought the GT4 might do it...but in the end, wasn't mine to like (wife) so maybe an excellent 1989 Targa with G50 or 993TT sensibly priced or 964 T sure..saw a 964 America Roaster in the US - but again numbers are double from five years ago and the guys are asking investment grade money for cars that are 'full on' drivers....which means values have crested and coming down in my opinion. GT2 does give you that air cooled experience I concur - almost bought one three years ago as we were only 15K apart at the time. Thanks for your interest.

Im sure OP made a tidy profit on his GT4 and sees an opportunity to re-engage with the air cooled cars.. great idea actually.

The 1st one aint never going to happen. I think those kind of cars are going for well over US$200k
And the 2nd part is an oxymoron
I wish you luck but I think everyone on this board would like the same thing under those terms but then we wake up
Cheers

Close as I know here, Weissach Calgary has a 1983 930 Turbo in Hellblau Blue on Navy Blue, 78,000 km for $150K. I think that might $150K USD also. Older than you want, but that is all I know of off the top of my head. I saw the car in their showroom a couple of weeks back, it looked to be in great condition, at least the body and interior did.

The "air-cooled cars are a mysterious mistress of limitless joy" opinion is getting a bit old. They are great cars, but take your head out of your abacus... They are slow, quirky, with crappy heat, barely functional AC, and require you to own another car as a daily driver. Ever see a stock pre-90s 911 try to defog a window?!? The bubble will probably never burst with these cars as the aging owners hold on to them until they either forget that they have the car, or their survivors sell it to their neighbors son for $5000 and 2 summers of cutting grass.

I had a 996 tt. Then and old aircooled funnest toy I've ever had. I have know idea why. A few have been on our drives and will probably vouch that a dialed in one is not slow. I drive mine all the time. Was just out tonight in fact. But in saying all that I have a second one. That's really nice. Orginal euro car. Blue. Ducktail 930 brakes. Wevo stuff. There awsome but I don't need two. One old and brand new one coming so ....the way I see it you sorta need one old and one new. Pm me if your interested in chatting about it more. Cheers lee
