My Cayenne S is well used with 200,000km on it, and I am going to keep it till the next gen comes out in September. announcement. Probably Euro delivery whenever i get it.
I had a problem in that the car sounded like it was not firing on all cylinders when I started it It turnedd out that the flexible pipes attached to the CATS were leaking, but as the engine heated up the expansion sealed them and the engine was OK again. However, Porsche does not supply the pipes as a separate part, and two new full CATS were about $7k, which was way too much for my old car.
Robert, my service advisor knew the this was a common problem on the Cayenne and recommended me to an exhaust specialist in Etobicoke, and they removed the pipes and welded on new ones for $990. Car runs perfectly now.
Good when a dealer is not just flogging every possible part to you. I have always done 100% dealer service on my cars of any brand, and I will certainly do so with the new Cayenne. I am waiting to see the spec which should be announced September.

Ronan - I had the same issue on my Cayenne S, its an 04 with 210,000km. I did the same thing!
It's a shame there are people who have paid that 7k and don't know about the easy way...
Cheers

there is a stronger stainless version that goes in turbo cars and handles higher heat and stress.. this is the version I put in my cayenne. I recommend anyone who has to replace these use that type

there are some exhaust specialists that will do this repair for $500. same issue on the Touaregs but mine hasn't had the issue yet. another weak point on these is the hangar bearing, and same thing the bearing can be changed for a few hundred or buy a new axle for a few grand from the dealer. Ronan have you changed the hangar bearing?

Unless you want a TT, get a V8 Toureg instead. 95% the same vehicle but without the badge premium.

I had two V8 Touaregs.
The first was a disaster, an early production 2004. The second was a 2005 and it was an absolutely bulletproof car. Not as quick as the Cayenne that replaced but it felt better appointed and gave me zero problems over three years. It never gave me the slightest problem.
