I have a G97 Gearbox off an RS that needs the bell housing replaced as you can tell from the photos.there are some fresh shavings and there is a good size ridge building up. I'll tackle it myself if push comes to shove but would rather have someone who's done this before and time constraints for myself. I've called my usual shops I deal with but they don't want to touch it even though it's similar to

Have you considered welding up the deep grooved area? It would be a shame to rip a good transmission apart just to fix something like this.
