Default octane.. required fuel quality

The highest octane level I see at most pumps in Ontario is 91, how does that measure up with the 93 that my gas filler sticker recommends?

my 996 C4S ran happy on 87 as well. I always use 91 but I was stuck in the the middle of no where with no gas and the only station around just carried 87.

Apparently Shell will be adding ethanol to its fuel in the next few years.

Unless you go WOT, you will be fine with 87 in an engine requiring premium. Also the knock sensors will pull timing when the 87 starts causing pinging.

Depending what the gas station has when I fill up, I drove my 996 on either 91 or 93. The boosted 928 got at least 91 until I had to do I've it for a week to work, ,hen it was 87 and I stayed off boost.

Most Esso stations in Ontario have Supreme+ (93 octane).

If you use GasBuddy.com it will at least show you which stations sell TopTier gas so your getting the best 91 octane........not sure if it makes a difference but makes me feel better

yessir, keep the cylinder load down and you can get away with lower octane
