Unless you go WOT, you will be fine with 87 in an engine requiring premium. Also the knock sensors will pull timing when the 87 starts causing pinging.
Depending what the gas station has when I fill up, I drove my 996 on either 91 or 93. The boosted 928 got at least 91 until I had to do I've it for a week to work, ,hen it was 87 and I stayed off boost.

If you use GasBuddy.com it will at least show you which stations sell TopTier gas so your getting the best 91 octane........not sure if it makes a difference but makes me feel better
