I ordered parts from Function First and then I ended up not getting the car. Long story... The short and great story was that Function First without question refunded my money since they had not shipped the part. I will buy from them in the future for sure.

Good to hear but curious if anyone has installed it. They suggest you either do the trans mount OR the engine mounts as they both achieve similar results bit doing both would produce too much NVH for a street car
The trans mount is much cheaper and looks like a much easier install so am curious why I haven't heard more about it

Several guys in the 996turbo forum have these installed. FYI, most have upgraded their transmission mounts to the 997turbo version. All positive feedback from what I've read. I'll be getting them when I update my transmission mount. The only real question I think is which version to go with, soft, medium, or hard?
I did my engine mounts with RSS semi solids and really liked the increased tightness and the slight added rumble in the seat, it wasn't too much NVH.
If you're worried about NVH, I would do semi solid engine mounts and the soft (orange) transmission mount inserts.

If the engine mounts on the 997 are like the 996, they are easier to change than to install the transmission bushing/insert. I've done my engine mounts without lifting the car an in the driveway under 30 minutes. The engine mounts have a great effect on the shifting and even handling, the transmission mount not so much.

Well I read on the 997 board of some not so simple installs but maybe they were isolated incidents....
It seemed much more involved than the tranny mounts but will look further in to it. Certainly didn't seem like a 30 min job

Maybe but keep in mind, a lot of the 996-up owners have very limited wrenching abilities. So they might make a simple job sound like a lot of work.

The thing that caused the most amount of time on my mounts was getting the nuts off (unintended joke!). After that it was easy. Still not 30 mins but not more than an hour or so with scratched up knuckles...

They are all slightly different depending on generation and RWD or AWD. Function Firsts website has a drop down menu to pick your model. Note, if you order a new 996 transmission mount, you will receive a 997 mount since it supersedes the older one, so order your inserts accordingly.

I have the function first motor mounts installed in my '03 C4S.
Simply put, they are the business. Mind you I replaced completely worn out OEM mounts that were leaking their hydraulic fluid, the difference was stark after installing the FF mounts. The car tightened up significantly, really the only way I could explain it in writing.
Certainly be prepared for added NVH with the semi solid mounts though. Around 4k RPM there is enough NVH in the cabin to cause buzzing of interior panels. Once the mounts were worn in a bit it decreased but 4k is still the sweet spot for making the interior of the car buzz lol... That said, I love them and IMO made the car more 'raw' which is exactly what I was looking for in a weekend warrior.
I have about 10,000km on them now, just FYI. No issues at all. Luka is a fine businessman too, he runs a tight ship with impeccable customer service, you can deal with FF in confidence.
Hope this helps

You really should try changing them yourself. Besides the money you save, you'll get the satisfaction that a chequebook enthusiast will never get.
