Actually, I couldn't disagree more. Older cars are way more fun, IMO. I've done several days in an 02 996 turbo, a 200? Corvette Z06 and an 01 boxster S and my car is far and away more fun. There's an old saying, it's more fun to drive a slow car fast than a fast car slow.

To spew one more cliche, it's a nice "problem" to have.......
Yes. Yes it is.

Similar vintage, but gave up on lapping days except when instructing, to take up club and series racing in a dedicated Radical SR3 RS race car.

There's tons of track miles on this chassis also.... and always time for a cab!

That is a sweet looking car.

I love tracking my 86 and think I'm having more fun than the GT3's that are blowing by me.

I just think you should have a roll bar if you're tracking a cab.

I'd be interested in the BBS's.

Sweet looking car!

hint: I'd swap those BBS with 911 Rod for the Fuchs that show in his avatar.

If tracking is still on your radar with this car, be sure to check with your local groups as to whether a Cab without modern pop-up or standard rollover protection would be permitted.

Can't really see putting a roll bar in a Cab...

I know for PCA DE's you need a cage for any year without the pop up bars ie 993 and earlier. Went through this when I had mine

And there are a few options for bars and cages at least for the 993 but at that point you may as well have bought a coupe

Christien,

At this point, they are both investments. I know you said you can't have both, but sell some bull$hit bonds or something and buy an investment you can roll around in.

If you can only have one, I say keep your early car. It's part of you and you two have too much history together.

Damn that is pretty. I admit to preferring the luxury in more modern 911s, but that would be very tempting.

Hey everyone, thanks for contributing to this. I'm still not sure what I'm going to do, but I appreciate everyone's thoughts. I've read through this whole thread 2 or 3 times and I'm going to take the weekend to mull it over. My thought at this point is to do a PPI next week and see how that comes back. If the car is as sound mechanically as the pics look (I received a few more from the seller yesterday and the interior looks brand new, aside from the carpet which needs a good wet vac) then I'm leaning towards buying it and making my decision next summer. That will be difficult both financially and space-wise, but might be the only way to properly answer this question and know I've made the right decision. Of course, if the dollar wasn't so far off, it would be much easier...

But anyway, thanks again - I do appreciate all of your comments!
