Question OT: Which Rust Proofing?

GF just got a brand new SUV which she intends to keep a long time. What undercoating should she choose? I always thought the runny oil stuff was the best. What and who do you recommend? Thanks a bunch.

PS - It has paddle shifters so I can pretend it's a 991 GT3 RS!

We did Krown and no name oil spray on my wife's 03 CRV, and body rust wasn't an issue when it got totalled in summer 2012....

We did it every 2nd year or there abouts.

I typically don't undercoat cars, prefer spot spraying hardware and seems, and doing frequent full washes...but if you want a full undercoat:
+1 on Krown

KROWN, hands down, best formulation in the industry and selection process as far as installers.

I had Sym-Tec wax based stuff on my 4Runner done at the dealer when I bought the truck new.
I've always like the wax stuff as it doesn't wash off like the oil stuff ,no dripping and ads just a bit of sound damping.

Every year I take it back to do "touch ups" and it only costs me $35 instead of the yearly $100 of oil.

Oh and my 4Runner is a 1998 with 520,000 km and rust just came up this year under a few door seals and the rear lift gate at the wiper arm so no complaints.

Best thing to do is never put the car into a warm environment in winter, that starts the melting and rusting process

No doubt but even our outside winter temperatures vary daily above and below freezing so it's unavoidable.

I get my truck Rust-Checked every year. The only negative is I have to park on the road for a few days until it stops dripping.
If you go with Krown or Rust Check they're similar. I think Krown was started by someone within Rust Check.

Krown. Although apparently some Canadian Tires do an application that is similar to Krown but is supposed to be better.

We'll likely be getting it done in Burlington. Anyone hear of these guys? I like that it's basically oil and not touted as being environmentally friendly.

I went to Krown at Jane and St Clair but before I went there I had thought in buying fluid film and doing it my self, but within the GTA only Canadian tire has Fluid film and only in small cans. Has anyone heard about Fluid Film? Look how clean this Jeep is underneath:

I sprayed my steel rims with a light coating of Fluid Film to keep the salt and dirt away, after 1 week they still shine as new and no dirt at all.

Another hack i did was lubricating the door seals with a silicone lubricant, this will prevent the doors from freezing shut and it will help preserve the life of the seals.
