Esso 93 vs Petro-Can 94
Just noticed that the Esso beside my condo carries 93+. Did a quick search but couldn't find any info on how this compared to Petro-Can 94. Currently I only use the 94 but am wondering if I now have a much more convenient place to fill up if this 93+ stuff is as good. Anybody with any info on this stuff?

i would imagine newer cars are designed to run ethanol fuels ( dont know this and its an assumption ) . But us in the older cars ethanol is a real no no . So Shell it is for us.

not scientifically proven.. but i seem to get better mileage out of shell 91 vs PetroCan 94... not that we care about mileage when we drive P cars... but it makes you think why and what's different...

Newer cars (like my 04 Cayenne) have an octane sensor and reduce timing and add fueling when using lower octane fuel.
Older ones just had knock sensors. For cars that just use knock sensors, use the lowest octane that does not produce knocking. This will save you money. For the others I would use the octane rated for the car. Higher octane can only help so much as you cannot add timing indefinitely.

93 or 94?
I'm sure the swill that the previous customer left in the hose will negate that octane benefit.
Computer are going to manage any difference in fuel.
If I were in the middle of no-where, and needed gas, I'd put the best I could in.
All the station advertise they have the best. Often their supplies come from the same processing plant.

Surprised to hear that. In my car ('06 C4S) I got worse mileage with Shell 91 (and it felt weaker at higher RPM's). Stuck with Ultra 94, then Esso 93 became available in my area so been using that.

I have read up to 10% on their websites. That's why I only use Shell 91 for the 993 with zero ethanol.

I would say 91 with zero ethanol is the better choice
