Default Cnc sub box

Been working on my audio system now picking away at it slowly. Wanted to share some progress.

Finished off the building / fitting / body work on my sub box today finally. I hope to coat it and install it next week.

I designed it in autocad around 8" dual voice coil subs and to fit perfectly behind the rear seat without obstructing the rear view. Installed you cannot see it with the rear seats up.

Still needs a final sanding and I think I am going to coat it in plastidip as it has the same texture / color as my center console.

Nice fabrication but I have a few questions.
Is this going in place of your rear seats, on top or over the foot wells?
What kind of 8" subs spec'd a sealed box that big?
How much extra weight will that be?
Just curious as I'm in a related industry.

The box will fit behind the rear seats. You probably can't see the internal baffling inside it to reduce its size internally I just built it full size to take up all the space behind the seat. Weight wide I'd guess 25 lbs without weighing it.

I have a couple of these kicking around for it.http://www.crutchfield.com/S-4MqlJMu...***-21-V2.html

Cool.
You may want to plug in all the woofer specs and cabinet dimensions into something like "bassboxpro" to see how the sound curv will roll off in that size of cabinet.
The sample woofer you have is designed for a .53 cu foot sealed box and it looks like you have 1.5 to 2 cubic feet. And adding damping material will just make it bigger
It maybe really "boomy" in a sealed box that large if you like that sort of thing.
You may have to add a vent to control the frequencies.

I have a box in the back of my 996 turbo with dual 8" subs as well. sounds excellent. I would suggest you actually paint it as opposed to plastidip as plasti does not have a very good finish and while it is out why not just use real paint? also paint doesn't scratch as easy.

I used a software for box calculations on the box. With the chamber blocked inside I am exactly on spec for the airspace in this box.

I might do carpet on the box in the end to try and match the interior closer.

Tough crowd...all parts designed in auto cad, drawn in 3d, then broken down and machined on a 3 axis CNC machine.

Very cool, kind of like 3d printing.. Are you running the subs off the factory system?

Nicely done - they look fantastic!

We need a sound demo (not like Boman's sound demo clip above though...)!

Waiting on my JL's to be refurbished I walked down the street to the pawn shop and picked up these babies for $25. Truthfully these are more than enough bass for me, and enough to rattle the interior pretty good. The JL's will be nuts I could likely be satisfied with a single 8" woofer for my taste.

Nice.

Unrelated I built a 40ish watt boombox with my 9yr old son to take to the dressing room for his hockey games.

No cnc or fancy software, used a ebay chip amp (tpa 4116), a 12v 7ah SLA battery and 6.5" 3way speakers from kw surplus.

I added the grill screens after, my son and his team mates were always touching the woofer.

Construction in messy workshop.

Nice! I have a similar setup where I have 2 8’s installed. One question I have is- with the sub location, since the engine is in back, do we run the risk of causing engine damage? Such as timing and what not since bass will be directly above engine.
