This interests me greatly Jamie! Did you follow a DIY or did you have a shop complete the work? Care to share what was involved? Any permanent modifications required that would inhibit the ability to go back to the stock interface?
I'd love to do this retrofit as well, not sure how or if the Bose system would complicate the project?

I did it all myself. I would be willing to modify the dash for those needing it done. There is a DIY on 6 speed http://www.6speedonline.com/forums/9...-996-mkii.html
You have to permanently modify the horseshoe console its about $60 to replace or buy a new one to modify.
To interface with your stock deck a SCOSCHE IPFMRDS is required. This device links to the deck via the antenna. It even charges your ipad while you drive. The music plays over a taken over fm channel zero static because it does a full fm take over. The radio even displays the song information as well as your speedometer area.
The ipad needs to be jailbroken to allow power on and off unlock. So when you get in and turn the key on the ipad turns on, when you get out and remove the key the ipad shuts off just like the stock radio.

Looks excellent... Great job!
I'm assuming this requires a monthly data plan on the iPad for any internet related activity or GPS navigation? Wonder what those prices are like each month.

Scosche for newer iPads
I've been planning to make this mod on my 03 996
Love that you went the scosche route with stock head unit. I have a MOST with Bose system so I think that's my best or only option. I heard the Scosche IPFMRDS is for older iPhones and iPads with the larger connector. Does the one you have work with more recent iPads?

Just to cut the horse shoe or do the whole install?
You need to buy the 30 pin to lightening adapter for your phone. I actually ended up going with a full system install because I wanted more performance from the stereo. I now have 2 amps, 1 running my doors and rear, and 1 running 2 8" subs in a custom box I built. I have a Pioneer head unit with bluetooth hooked up to my ipad now. Plays off my ipad/radio/BT audio from my phone as well.

The other option is getting an aux cable plug in for the CR220... I ordered that so will see how the quality is. I do have a Spare Ipad mini laying around I don't use.
