Default Michelin Super Sport availability

Am looking to order these for my C4S. Kal Tire has the rears (305/30/19) but says the fronts (235/35/19) are on national backorder and they can't get them for about 8 weeks!!!

A local Toronto guy has them for sale privately (brand new with wrappers) for $650 - no tax. Made in mid 2013

Anyone else run in to a supply issue?

Thanks

Pretty normal actually based on sales volume potential in that very specific ultra high perf category. They pretty much build to order to avoid producing excess and having to sit on the inventory vs tires for the volume passenger and L/T market. I worked for a major for 7 years and it was the exact same then as well come Spring.

Seems like a good deal, I would go for it... if you must have new Discount Tire Direct has them and it looks like it will run about $800 all in for a pair including shipping/tax/duty/exchange. I've ordered several sets of tires from them with no complaints, they are pre-paid duty and will show up on your door step in a couple days max.

Provided they've been stored indoors and you really need them. I would personally rather have the latest dates possible, though sold out is sold out!

Stored in door in the dark. The are a July 13 mnf date. I could wait 8 weeks for mid 2014 tires but don't really see the point given most people and mnf's say tires buying tires more than 5-6 yrs old may be a concern

Have you looked into ordering from the US? As mentioned you could have a set on your doorstep in a couple days for roughly the same price as new here, even after getting killed on exchange.

Well can't see why he'd make up a reason to not sell me tires...... can you?

I looked in the US ie Tirerack and it was close to $1000 after FX and delivery just for the fronts

Anyways bought the fronts from that guy so good to go

Can you order from TireRack or Discount Tire Direct? I've ordered tires from those sources and had them shipping to a local tire shop.

He did call Michelin as he had to track down the rears so again, wouldn't make sense for him to tell me the fronts weren't available. In fact he's been very helpful so no complaints (at least so far)

Yes exactly, with a couple of track days every year will be lucky to get a few years out of them

You can but as indicated above, after exchange rate and shipping its much more expensive. I tried Simply Tire where I have purchased before but they never got back to me. Kal Tires prices were about the lowest I could find in Canada (except for Zookie apparently). Am taking them over this weekend to get mounted
