I heard from my contact at Pfaff they are expecting 75-80 for all of Canada and there is likely already 2x that number of people with deposits vs the number of allocations.
Congrats to anyone who is confirmed to have an allocation, seems somewhat close to winning the lottery... and then needing to pay $200k+ for the car.

Massive congrats though... although I've long since dreamed of/planned on driving a Porsche I'm new to the marque with my 2015 GTS. Next phase is one day stepping into a new RS.

Can someone tell me how allocations works? Do the units they will receive relate to the volume of sales in one year? If yes why? If they have 100 potential customers why do they only receive 80 cars?

Porsche Canada requests a target number of cars from AG. When all global requests are in PAG will tell each national organization how many cars they will actually get. IN turn, they reallocate the cars to the dealers, (do not know the formula). The dealers have lists of customers with deposits and usually all cars are pre sold.
For the limited production cars they are typically 100% preordered. Chances of walking in and getting a car after the announcement are remote I would say.

I don't know how many cars they will make but I think if you want one you should find a dealer who will take your order and put your name and deposit down to show you're serious. Porsche and dealers both want to sell cars.

In general I'd agree but in this case see above. From what I've heard (also stated by others) every GT3 RS destined for Canada is likely already spoken for. Pfaff alone has around 50 deposits and are destined to receive less than that number... unfortunately PAG isn't in a 'sell as many as can be built' mode when it comes to limited production models.

I guess I saw what went on with the gt3 and it sure looked like Porsche was building just enough to fill orders without letting too many sit around. If I'd believed what everyone was saying last year I would have never got my car. All one can do is try. Unfortunately this RS is a bit too rich for me.
