Walter Rohrl Discusses New Porsche Turbo Engines

For daily driving a turbo is the way to go, so I definitely see the appeal beyond the fuel economy measures. Recently driving a stock (engine) 996 Turbo, I was impressed by the power, these new cars will have some great potential.
However Porsche has yet to make a watercooled turbo 911 sound exciting out of the factory, porsches are supposed to be emotiv cars, so hopefully they can borrow some exhaust engineers from AMG. And the DFI boxer engines are really efficient already its really difficult to squeeze much more power out of them. So I would be surprised to see people running big power reliably.

The last line is my favorite:
"Rohrl also confirmed that, unlike the PDK-only GT3, the RS will offer a manual transmission."
