Default Parts prices

We've had a bit of a lovefest on here for Oakville Porsche, and I've only heard good things about their service department, though I have yet to check the place out myself. I just called about brake rotors. $180 each for fronts, $210 each for rears. Wait, what? That's almost $800! And that's OEM, not any fancy stuff. All 4 from Pelican, including almost $100 in shipping, is under $350. Oakville has the fronts locally (at the "warehouse") but the rears would have to come from Germany, so a few weeks. Why would I ever buy it locally?

Sorry, just had to get that off my chest.

yes Pelican is usually aftermarket. Last time I needed rotors I got them from AutohausAZ, and saved a bunch including free shipping to Buffalo. you may want to try them. I went with the Zimmermans

Try Sonnen too. Cheaper than Pelican and they'll go USPS so you can get 'em right to your front door.

I went with Zimmerman on my car with Hawk HPS+ pads. Pretty sure just the rears cost me $350 in parts and I was hooked up by a friend... $75/rotor and $100ish for pads plus ATE blue brake fluid, add the tax and it all adds up quick. Pretty sure to do all 4 corners I'd be looking at least $800 in parts - of course I'm adding in pads here which you don't seem to have included in your quote.

$350 - $100 for shipping is $250 in rotors for 4 corners... so fronts 75ish and rears 50ish each? That's aggressive pricing, or cheap parts. I think my Jetta rotors cost that (not from a dealer).

Wait, why were the rears more expensive from Oakville? That doesn't make sense....

Has anyone ordered from German OEM yet? I met the owner (Jason Brunberg) at the Berlin Klassik show this year. He has started a company to supply Volkswagen/Audi parts but he says he can also get Porsche parts at prices below Pelican or ECS. He seemed like a straight-up guy.

I personally think both Pelican and ECS are great companies, but the shipping is still a PITA for small orders.

I think it's a hit or miss with parts being a good deal on this side of the boarder. It pays to do some research and price comparisons. I found random hardware/nuts/bolts to be WAY cheaper at Oakville Porsche over Pelican; also no shipping and quicker turnaround.

Every part I've ordered has been 1/2 the Canadian price from the USA Porsche dealers. Though not exactly overnight delivery, USPS is very reasonable and right to my front door. I don't even bother checking this side of the 49th any more.

I usually buy from Sunset, Paragon and Pelican. Way cheaper than here.

As an example I needed abs sensors. Pelican was 76$ each and Nineapart USED is 120$ each.

By the way, if you have the choice I would suggest to avoid UPS as they steal you with custom and duty fees. USPS is cheaper and Sometimes you dont have any custom and duty fees.

I'll sound like the broken record; try Brad @ London Porsche, he always does his best on prices to try and make a sale and is a GREAT guy to deal with...

'We've had a bit of a lovefest on here for Oakville Porsche...'

I don't think it's a 'love fest' as much as it's a new relationship and everything is shiny and new and she isn't getting headaches and doesn't hate your parents yet...

I am the 'friend' that got porschenut's brake parts.

Chris if you want I can give you a quote. We can get most of the aftermarket within a couple days and pickup would be Whitby (Response Engineering).

We are pretty competitive with Pelican once you factor in the landed costs...

Regards,

JR
