Default Learning to drive my new car

Hi,

My 991 Targa 4s will be arriving 5 weeks from now, and I wanted to know where I could take lessons. It's a powerful car and I want to learn how to drive it properly.

Can anyone suggest a place or instructors?

Thanks.

PCA's Upper Canada Region has a great introduction to performance driving that they call IDS. It will be offered again this August, if you can get a spot.

Good luck and enjoy the ride!

First off, congrats on the targa! They are gorgeous. Secondly, smart man to want to take some driving school with it - the best possible way to get familiar with the vehicle and improve your own skills!

As Charlie said, PCA's IDS is a great place to start. It's a lot of fun, and you'll learn a ton in a safe environment.

Agree with the UCR IDS. I did the same thing once I got my turbo. Just be careful, It's addicting. I now track every chance I get!

+1 on the IDS... I just did this in April after owning my car for two years. I wish I had done it earlier - truly makes you appreciate just what your car is capable of... and a reality check on how bad a driver I am compared to the experienced drivers

Apex performance driving is a great place to start. The track is addictive afterwards.

Congrats on the new car! It's a beauty!!!!

Been with the BMW Trillium Club for a weekend, there were a number of Pcars in higher classes along with some other logos.

Good weekend, paired up with an experienced instructor who had his own trailered Vette to run, plenty of time on track and in class peppered throughout.
