Been through it with two kids. Drivers Ed etc. Short story is. Your kid is high risk. It doesn`t matter what he is driving. Beat up old Civic or your DD`s. It`s what he or she is going to hit and what happens to that / them . RISK . You can try everything to reduce the cost but in the long run it`s like Vegas, the house wins. Pay the premiums and hope your kid goes accident free. It all works out after they turn 25

My son got his G1, I bought him a '10 Golf and he's been practicing around the neighbourhood but until he get the G2 it's my DD.

My now 21 year old, responsible daughter and I were having a conversation about cars this weekend. And she confessed to me that the first day she got her license she raced another car at over 140 km/hr. She told me back then she was cool in her Range Rover.
I was a bit terrified listening to her story. Interesting that now she sees the whole thing as being immature and stupid.
