Default I'm nuts but why not...

My buddies shop has extra time today so they offered to work on my car all day for literally nothing!

So...it was going in anyway for exhaust work (Gundo Hack) and they asked me if I wanted my Eibach springs installed (free of charge) so why the heck not!

Hope you bought some adjustable drop links for the rear.....or look to replace your rear tires every 5k(inner tire wear).....eibach springs lowers the rear and creates a lot of negative camber that no alignment will correct. I had them and now I have PSS10s.

I've ran H&R's in the past and I'm not too concerned. Eibachs aren't as much a drop and I haven't experienced the tire wear described nor have really read about it to be honest. This is the first time...

Many people lower on stock suspension. I'm just another one of them.

Do you have PASM suspension on the 997?

Despite the 4 wheel alignment after the install and 500km of running in the suspension after the install, I had inner camber wear on the Michelins after just 5-6kms. Anyways, let me know how they turn out for you.

Yes and no...the car is paid off so I like that I owe nothing on it and can drive it everyday and not worry.

Then the little devil in my 911 head says "But a 997.2 GTS would be nice or even a 13 Cayman S"...

But is it worth the extra $$$ and would I really get that much more bang for my buck out of owning a newer car for X $?

That's the dilemma...

I hear ya!
Love my car...but also lust after the same models.
I'm off Warranty in April, am debt free, and plan to keep enjoying it...if I can just stay off the dealers pre-owned web sites!

On my 3 previous 911's the less I did the more I got. Over the last 25 years I have done many modifications that have either gotten me nothing at trade-in time or cost me more in problems. I had all my mods done at well known places like Fiorano. Lowering springs--->Had to roll fenders and had a cracked suspension piece. Also scraped every ramp and speed bump. BBS wheels--->Nice but hard to clean and the original Fuch's were worth more. RUF pieces--->no where to mount front plate. Wider wheels--->Had to change them back because the car tramlined so badly. I will never modify anything ever again. Unless you track your car I see no point even though this is costing you nothing. Most people (not all) want stock original Porsche parts only. Buyer beware. I would spend big $ and then try and convince myself I had improved on what the best engineers had already done.

I go by the rule "I didn't buy this car for the next person". Mod decisions are purely based on my answer to the question "is this going to enhance my enjoyment of the car"!

That said, as a buyer I like stock vehicles so that I can mod them the way I want to.... So it's a bit of a catch 22 perhaps!

I enjoy adding my own personal touches ie. modifications to my cars. I'd rather buy a stock or near stock car and mod it myself to my personal taste. I also keep all OEM parts so the next buyer has the best of both worlds.....

Of course we all know modding cars is a waste of money but no cars are perfect...just like woman....they all need a little tweaking and/or adjustments!

Just don't tell my wife....
