Im sure they wil fix it .. worst case they will have a mechanic drive it home for a couple of days with an analyzer plugged into it . As soon as it does it they will have all the live tellemetry and you are half way home.

I think there is a Silver 991....maybe just visiting? Saw it twice, but that was in Summer/Fall in Welland-Fonthill area. I wasn't driving mine at the time so me waving at him made him re-think visiting the area !

Fonthill is a nice quiet place and close to the US border as most of my business is in the US.

Pfaff just called and of course the car wouldn't behave badly and started every time they tried......BUT the history in the magic computer showed that the car had low fuel pressure codes!! They are going to replace the fuel pump tomorrow and hopefully that will be it.

After your service, I would suggest pulling out the phone and recording you starts for the next week hoping to catch it actually happening.
Then at least you have some proof to show the tech.

That is what I would love to know as well? Just doesn't make sense that it would have a "timed" window where it wouldn't start. After 2 it would start and stop no problem. It didn't do this everyday either, just when we have had the extreme cold. All the other days in January never had a problem. I hope replacing fuel pump will cure it.

Sounds logical but IMHO they are throwing parts at it. Maybe the fuel pressure is low because the pump is not running. Logical, but does the car run very well all other times? Typically when a fuel pump is starting to go, you can feel the surging at high RPM. This also sounds like a strange failure...

My bet would be that the fuel pump is not getting the signal to do its job, or there is a check valve leak.

I had an older Volvo that would not start for 3 hours after it was driven. Modern fuel systems have a return line, the return line has a check valve that would prevent all of the fuel from leaking back into the tank when the car was off, to keep pressure in the system. If the car detected a warm start, it would not send large amounts of fuel to engine, assuming the pressure was good from previous operation. So it resulted in a crank off, until the engine was cold again. On cold starts, it worked perfectly. To be honest, I didn't understand exactly what was happening, but when I replaced the check valve in the return line, I never had a problem again. I typed this just to confuse people and make the OP worry! ;-)

What time of night would it be in Stuttgart at 2pm EST? Maybe it is still adjusting to the time zones, and you have a night time party 991. You may need to trade it for the day time business 991. You got a drug dealers car by mistake.... somewhere in the world there is a drug dealer who is having the same problem but about 10-12 hours difference. Amazing technology these days...
