OT: Looking for a Veterinarian recco in Oakville?
We're picking up a puppy in 2 weeks and wondered if any of the Oakville folks could recommend a good Vet? Thanks in advance!

Handsdown recommend Oakpark Vet Clinic on Trafalgar just north of Dundas on the west side, Dr. Matt was a next door neighbour a few years ago, he has 3 other associates vets doctors, very good practice.
Dr. Matt and Dr. Lara there saved my cat from a certain death a few months ago when he ingested something which blocked his internal organs, it was something very light in density so it was almost invisible on the X-Ray, but they figured it out just in the nick of time, performed surgery immediately and saved a precious life, they also took care of him for a few days until he's well enough to come home, he's fully recovered now and you would never know how close he came to death the morning they figured out where the foregin object was in him!

Mods, feel free to delete this post if I'm breaking any rules...
I'm a vet, my hospital is near Markham (Birchmount / Ellesmere) - it's a specialty referral / 24 hour emergency hospital though, so no regular vaccinations, etc. Toronto Veterinary Emergency Hospital - 21 Rolark Dr.
Just wanted to mention it in case anyone has any pet emergencies in my neck of the woods.
Cheers!

Cute puppy!
Well, "Yukon" became "Keeko" after seeing him in person. Thanks for the Vet recco's. We went with the animal hospital of Oakville after the recco above was confirmed by one of my wife's Profs. We took him there on Monday and they were very good to him. We did not get Dr. Best, but her associate took very good care of us. Here is a pic of our new little buddy On a related note, if there are any Vet's on the site that wouldn't mind PMing me their opinion of the Leptospirosis vaccine, I would really appreciate it. The breeder is in Windsor and recommends it, but the local Vet said they don't normally do this vaccination unless requested because they haven't seen a case in at learst 10 years. We are not sure what to do...Thanks!

Darnest thing about Vets , and I am stealing from a comedy act. In medicine there is specialization, cardiologists, urologists, proctologists. But in Vet medicine these folks take everything from cows to chameleons and birds and everything in between. Now thats skill.

regarding Leptospirosis vaccine: unless you have a water -loving dog, or hunting dog or your dog spends time playing in standing water then I don't recommend it . Just my .02c and 35 years.
Your pup looks healthy and cute.
Enjoy.
