Default PPI for 2007 TT TIP

Hello all, I will be getting a PPI done next week in Vancouver for a 2007 TT with about 15K KM. The only place that fits the timing is Wessiach. Have not really dealt with them but aware who they are for many years. MCL basically said no time until end of June.

I'm based in Edmonton

Any other tips for the inspection will be much appreciated.

Thanks

I have heard nothing but good things about Weissach. Bring your new car out to Coffee &Cars or on some of the PCA events. If you ever want to hear a Europipe exhaust, let me know.

Weissach is excellent. Have been a great "indy" for about 30 years and they are also very supportive of our PCA Region (their owner is one of our directors!).

I've used Weissach before and they will do at most an average job for almost dealer price. But your ppi'ing a newer car with low miles so maybe a different story. Air cooled cars I wouldn't use them again.

I would also suggest Scan Automotive and MB Euromotors.

Good luck!

Thnks guys. Weissach advised about $600 for PPI and around $1400 to do the full service for the 6 year service which includes the plugs, belt brakes. MCL advised $2500 for the service and insisted the rotors / pads need to be replaced as a standard. I said why and he said "its a turbo". Will check to see if they are warped ..etc but if they look good forget it. Will replace them in a couple of years.
Again much appreciate the quick comments as I was a previoius 993 owner but have never had the 997 before. Kind of miss some of the old school and no question the sound. AP328 definitly want to hear that pipe! Was a member of the polar group for years and will join up shorly and find out who in the old gang is still around.

Typical dealer doing their best to up sell, they will recommend a full brake job without even seeing the car yet. I highly doubt it will need new rotors and pads, at most a brake fluid flush.

I would PPI, then reassess if you really need to be doing any major service esp on 15K mileage.

Maybe posted up some q's in the 997TT forum about service guidelines or thoroughly go thru the service history before deciding.

New brakes and plugs at only 15K?!?!? At thatmlow mileage, it shouldn't need anything.

I agree. I'm adding warranty via the AMA in Alberta (interstate) for two years and they insist all service must be done. So the 6 years service for plugs/brake fluid/belt are to be done regardless of km. Could not find any other warranty company that will cover Porsche in Canada. If you guys know any let me know. My price is $4400 for 25 months and 40,000 KM. Its expensive but apparently they are reputable compared to some of the shops I talked to.

The chances are very small that this car will need $4400 worth of warrantiable work in the next $40K km. I would put that money aside and use it when needed it for any work (clutch, brakes, tires, etc). I'm not a gambler, but willing to bet that this $4400 will be a total loss.

Maybe an oil change, brake service, and a transmission fluid service. Can't see brakes and plugs.

+1 I'd save the money, especially with a turbo. If it was a NA, I'd rush to get a warranty given how crummy the m96 engines are. At 15k the car should only need age things like oil and other fluids. I have 94k km's on the 996 turbo. 2nd set of rotors and pads and they are still in very good shape.

By the way, I would only let a dealer do warranty work. There must be some decent indies in Van. Paying 600 for a PPI is a joke. Remember that ppi's are very limited in what they can really tell you. Good service records are far more important.

Good luck.

+1 to everything Imo said. Wise words you should listen to. No point spending money if you don't have to.....

Thanks. My though with so low KM that with my luck something like the coolant issue or the TIP Tranny problem would surface and those costs apparenty are extreme.

Receiver, would have no issue with MCL doing the service but they won't touch the car for 3 weeks and I will likley buy it on Thursday and head back to Edmonton late Friday.
Since Wessiach will have the rear bumper off (doing the leak test) figured best to put in new plugs anyway. If I decide to sell in a year or so the warranty for what its worth and service up to date will help the cause. Will really think about the warranty and may skip it
