I was all set to order water pump & thermostat from Sunset Porsche in Oregon and deliver to Niagara Falls NY for pick up next week, that is right up until there is an "oh" when I told the sales staff I'm calling from Canada. She said:
- International credit card order must be shipped to the same address as credit card billing address citing fraud prevention, unless the order is prepaid via money order or wire transfer, and even then I would have to fill out another form for the alternate shipping address
- They only ship UPS or DHL so you get hit with the brokerage charge to Canada, unless you spend some time clearing it yourself
Well I guess they lost a sale from me today, many US companies will receive Canadian credit card and ship to a different ship to address registered on the card, why some US companies still don't have the right system in place when other companies are able to is beyond me......, in fact Suncoast Porsche do accept international credit card and will happily ship to a different address than the one on the credit card, too bad their price is higher than Sunset.

DHL isn't that bad, better than UPS. My last order of $200 in parts the extra fees were $23.
Is it possible to change the shipping address directly with UPS while its in transit? I am assuming you are not looking to overnight it. Pretty sure UPS will allow you to "revise" the ship to address if its shipped via UPS ground.
That's a novel concept, but for seller's protection I would imagine this can only be done if the request is initiated by the seller, which puts me right back to square one again.
- On ups.com, follow these steps to request an intercept from your Shipping History. You can also request an intercept from your Tracking Detail.
Log in to My UPS.
Select the Shipping tab at the top of the page.
Select Create a Shipment in the area at the left of the page, then select View History or Void Shipment.
In the Previous Shipments section, you will see a summary of your recent shipments. <snipped>
So unless I am reading it wrong, this redirect can only be initiated by the shipper, else there is little assurance for the shipper if anyone can intercept and redirect the shipment without the knowledge or consent from the shipper.
USPS has similar service as well, I had used it once not too long ago.
Might be worth a live call. I read something to the effect that if you can't be there to receive you can ship to a friend etc. I really think it is possible and as the buyer you can provide them any security questions they may have.
I called paypal to add cbi address to my ship to list to avoid this hassle when buying from ebay etc. Took some explaining over the phone as to why but they did it.
I generally use Roger at 928s R Us for parts for both the Porsche and the BMW. He can source parts for any "P" Car.
Very competitive pricing,
Accepts Paypal, Ships USPS - DHL and I've had drops to the Falls too.
DHL overnight to your door is impressive and they don't gouge like the "Brown Clowns'.
Try him.
You'll like him.

Do you mean to call Sunset? If so I did call, and that's how I found out about their restrictions, in fact the gal on the phone said "international credit card doesn't guarantee payment if the shippment is not made to the billing address", and that they have "lost thousands" when people would use an alternate shipping address then claim they never reveive the parts, so Sunset looses out at the end.
The gal said this is the owner's decision after many losses and he's not going to change this policy, I followed up by replying to the sales gal's email so she can have a data point of yet another lost international customer.
No Ken call UPS, I fully understand why Sunset chooses not to as do many others I have come across. I am saying place the order to your home address via ground non rush and then as soon as it's in transit (next day or so) call UPS and redirect the ship to address to CBI. A quick call to UPS will tell you if it's possible or not.
