Radio wire harness

Radio wire harness
Does anyone know where I can get a radio wire harness for a 2001 Porsche 911, (non-bose sound system). I'm trying to install my Pioneer navigation system so I don't want to have to cut the factory wire harness. Is it true that the VW wire harness fits to the Porsche?

any decent car audio shop should have no issue getting it for you, or http://www.crutchfield.ca/Volkswagen.../120701784.htm

Nice. I was just about to start looking into this myself. I test drove the new 2014 Cayman this weekend and while I love the car I think I'm going to stick with my 996 for a long while yet. But the electronics are getting a little crusty.
I hadn't looked into the wire harness yet. Does the harness cover all of the wiring necessary (ie including the speed-sensitive volume, headlights for auto-dimming) etc?
Also regarding either the Pioneer and/or Kenwood double din systems, are there any additional face plates required?
And just in case anyone reading this has done this before, has anyone found any clever mounting/routing for the bluetooth microphone and GPS antenna?
And my last question for 2001Porsche911, why did you decide on Pioneer? My focus is on the integrated GPS and my minimum bar is "at least as good as the 3 year old Garmin it is replacing". Kenwood definitely solves that since the GPS and software are supplied by Garmin. But I've also been a big fan of Pioneer over the years and would consider both.

I did a bit of digging and it looks like this is a bit more involved than just the wiring harness. There are quite a few discussions on this online but the main parts required appear to be
- frame for the double DIN receiver
- black trip piece for around the receiver
- mounting bracket for the hvac controls that get moved lower (I think)
- wiring harness
- antenna wire adaptor
It also sounds like you have to cut the bar between the top 2 DIN sections.
There is a kit from an ebay store "euromotorspeed" listed here although it would come to over $200 shipped:

I got the euromotorspeed kit last year, comes with everything you need. The harness isnt' necessary if you have a 2003 and upbecause you need to by pass the amp anyway. I had a non bose 2003 using the MOST system. I sold my harness to someone in the US. You shoudl email euromotorspeed and see if you can buy just the harness.

I decided to use the Pioneer simply because I had it in another vehicle which I just removed it from. Also, I have had multiple Pioneer double DIN navigation systems over the years and they have all been great and very easy to use, nice looking maps, etc.
In my old vehicle I just placed the GPS antenna under the dash and it worked perfect, i almost never had a lost signal.
I bought a double DIN installation kit off ebay from some company in London, England, it came with the black trim plate & mounting bracket. It was only $55 and arrived within 2 weeks. I will post the link later.
I'm going to see someone who says they have the wiring harness adapter and antenna adapter this Friday (found them on Kijiji). I will let you guys know if his adapter works and provide his contact details
