Please oil spray it. You'll be glad you did in 10 years time. It's only $80/year.

You shouldn't have too many problems with a good set of winter tires, streets are plowed regularly.

Not sure about oil-spraying...Porsche advises that 997s are factory undercoated (and oil-sprays attack sound proofing materials). I just have the car inspected pre and post winter. After winter, a good engine compartment cleaning and underbody cleaning is done.

I drive my Carrera 4 exclusively in bad weather. I say, GO FOR IT!

I swear by Krown for my winter beaters. Even the city uses it to rust-proof their salt truck fleet!

I've heard that drilling holes on body panels to deliver anti-rust agent (i.e. Krown) is not recommended on the newer Porsche. Any thoughts?

+1

I often ask myself why I live here!

I've been asking myself the same question for 6 winters now... thankfully, it's my last. Heading back to Victoria at the end of May. Yay me!

True. I resisted drilling holes on my Audi for the same reason and then I gave in a couple of years ago. All the holes that are drilled are in good shape on the Audi.

I found a guy here in town (actually recommended by Mark Motors, local Porsche and Audi dealer) that uses plastic nozzles and is fine with not drilling holes (but won't give you warranty in that case).

I'm sure eventually I'll move my butt back to BC but I figure a change in environment isn't so bad when I'm young. Also, Ottawa has one of the strongest surgical program and 5yrs for a kickass training is a sweet deal IMHO. Maybe my perspective will change once I experience the true Canadian winter.

My experience living in Ottawa for 8 years is they usually get way more snow than Toronto and it's colder so often salting turns roads - particularly side streets - into a mass of ruts. I'd use a c4s year round in TO but it'd be a bit of a challenge in Ottawa. Grab a Canada Goose down coat when they go on sale this spring. You'll need it.

I'm starting to think that you're right! I heard good sushi are hard to come by in Ontario........what am I gonna do for my omega-3? Congrats on the move back, Victoria is a beautiful place and it will be incredible to take your porsche along those curvy roads by the shore.

Do you guys think I should forgo the Sports PASM for more clearance (1cm) during snowy days, or do you think that is inconsequential? I'll be swapping to 19" wheels/tires for the winter.
