Jim I have read the 04 cayenne have plenty of electrical issues. With that mileage and year I would steer clear.
The parts for the ctt are quite pricey.

Owned a 04 and 05, No electrical issues. Though the light connector has a problem which signal lots of warnings about dipped beam or corner light. It a loose connection.
The coolant pipes are plastic, though with 200k I am sure they have all ready bursted and been replaced with aluminium pipes. Actually with that many km. Every problem would have been fixed by now.
Cayenne Forum has many of the known problems. At that kind of price it a whooping great deal. The AWD system, the balance, air suspension, power, off road capability are second to none in a SUV market. Gas consumption is 20l/100km in the city and 14-16l/100km on the hwy

I occurred to me that at 200k the car would be sorted out. That and it's black, and has the tow package.

I'd be concerned since it was owned by a "former Leafs captain". Considering their awful record the past six years, I wonder if he ever took his frustrations out on the Cayenne?
Lots of k's for a temperamental truck. I think the upkeep would be very costly and maybe annoying.
The reasonably low price (about current half season seats) may only be the price of admission.

Thats true and x2 with anything outside of a reasonable warranty. I figure buying these things used are a crap shoot. I got an A8 with very low miles from the USA for a super low price and it cost me as much in a year and a half. But the Cayenne, it's black and shiney and got my attention. I'm bad that way.

think of it this way... if you buy it and the car goes south you can part it out and prob get $20K+ back out of the car in parts!

By the same token you can save yourself the exercise and bypass the likely issues with such a vehicle.

Looking at the extensive list of maintenance done on it all ready. The brakes and rotors on the Turbo last much longer then the S. There have been very few reports on engine issues, with the majority being on 03 Cayenne S's
If it's not throwing codes it should be ok.

captain of Maple Leafs? reminds me of Seinfeld with Jon Voight the accountant's car.
if it has been fully maintained probably not a bad gamble. I suggest a PPI.
oh and if you buy this you must promise the Chimera will be on the road this spring
good luck

Yeah, looking forward to getting back in the garage when it gets a bit warmer. 80/20 rules so I don't really have a date, except that I really do want to drive the thing. I got interested in the Cayenne after reading in Excellence that they are well built and reliable pre-owned if properly maintained and so began to spread the net. My trusty and reliable workhorse van has over 400ks on it and likely is good for another 400k but I really don't need that much space and the Cayenne,, well,, just looks good. Time will tell and i'm not in a rush to change vehicles.
