I recommend only using a PAVE member for appraisals. they have errors and omissions insurance and are the only real association for appraisers in North America. They have criteria and standards that must be followed by their members. Many stories exist of non acceptable appraisals (by non pave members) that only come to light after damage or loss occcurs and it is too late and many lawsuits have followed.
I have been informed that soon insurance companies will not allow you to add and deleted coverage for winter (already implemented for motorcycles).
