Default Toronto Autoshow

Since I moved from BC this was my first Toronto Autoshow. Is it usually like this?

Maybe its the norm here but I thought it was the worse show I have ever seen from the stand point of organization and even content. My family and I spend more time trying to find where the cars were by walking from building to building and hunting down elevators due to my son's stroller, than the actual cars on the show.

Then the " auto exotica" was laughable, a few nice cars thrown down on the basement of the building. Seriously?

Where was Porsche by the way?

Porsche Cars Canada pulled out of the show several years ago. Sometimes the local dealers and a few tuners display some p-cars.

Tell me about it. I drove up from buffalo yesterday and was underwhelmed. I recall going 5 or more years ago and seeing full displays from porsche Lamborghini etc. it was basically just a display of Ferraris with some interesting vintage and racing cars. I thought that since the 981 cayman was in Montreal, it would be in Toronto. Bad assumption that left me sour as I'm trying to make the 981/991 base decision in time for spring.

Ya it blows. I go every year only because my little guy loves it. But for him it's more about colours than brands.

I stopped going to it almost 20 years ago. They way I see it, I can see the same thing at the local auto mall. Went to the Detroit one, once, before all the good ones pulled out and that was leaps and bounds better than the TO one. But I heard now even that one is pretty lame.

I was there today for the first time in 10 or so years. Won't be going back again! Boring...

Went last year for the first time in probably almost a decade. I think it will be at least another decade before I go again.

Last time I went was about 15 years ago and it was amazing....among other things, they had an area surrounded by a wrought-iron gate set aside for the Rolls/Bentley cars.

Too bad--at least I don't feel I'm missing anything.

Yeah it was pretty bland.
Sponsored by Auto Trader now. You used to have to pay $10 for a program and this year they're free!
Its been lower key since the economic downturn. They don't even use the Dome anymore plus there are a lot less brands to display.
Remember, gone from the "big three" are Mercury, Plymouth, Pontiac, Hummer, Geo, Asuna, Oldsmobile & small Ford Ranger trucks. That's a lot of floorspace.
The exotics now depend on dealers to display their cars and the "green car" movement is extremely boring at very best,

The TO Autoshow is only good if you're in the market to buy a car and want to
compare brands in "one place" (~ using that term loosely LOL)

It's been a while since the show had some wow factor to it... I haven't been
since '08 and even then it sucked.

Don't let me deter you.
The new Vette, Viper & NSX are there and are pretty cool.
Not much in tuner, tires & mods dept. No dark nights etc.
I miss the whole ring of "stiuff" around the dome thing.
But hey Zooks smiley happy face was there. Be sure to say hi!

We went today with the whole family to compare small SUVs for our daughter. Having all the cars there helped us narrow it down to three models.
If we weren't in the market for a car this year, I wouldn't have gone. I knew what to expect from a few years ago and it is pretty lame.
If you are going, be sure to check out the new line of carbon fibre wheels at SCB's booth. Zookie picked up one rim with one hand like it weighs nothing and handed it to me. WOW, these are sooo light (15lb he said, but it felt less than that). But at $20K a set, I don't think I will be buying them any time soon.
For the fans of Riviera Blue color, you will find a Mustang, two Jags and two Volvos on display in the Fords version of this color.
