Default Shipping Wheels

Can anyone suggest the most cost effective way to ship wheels to the USA?

They will be in wheel boxes and ready to go.

Thanks,

Al

Hard to say. Is it just wheels so I would think courier is better.
Depends on destination. I ship to the US on a regular basis . Sometimes freight, sometime courier.
Price shop on line for prices at the various carriers.
Purolator subs to UPS once it crosses the border.
I use DHL for most of my international courier shipping and FedEx for pallet lots.
If it's on a pallet, they take the cubic weight vs actual as it's usually higher.
Ultimate in cheap is post but if it's priority post which means a tracking number, then cost is about the same as courier.

Ups within the states, but crossing the border ouch.

I had wheels shipped from the west coast to Nigara falls for $200.

You could drive them down and ship from a ups outlet. Like us address inc.

Shipped some last fall via FedEx ground service on the buyers account. The only issue was for the importer to resolve how to meet the US requirements to prove DOT compliance. It took him about a week to resolve the paperwork. In the end he was happy.

WAY easier to bring them into Canada it seems.

So I shipped the wheels today Via Canada Post.

It ended up being the least expensive by about $50 then the next closest quote and $250 less then the most expensive quote.

I always try to put my money back into Canada.

Now if we could only get the politicians to think likewise.

I need to ship 4 wheels to Texas. Anybody have any recommendations? May need to pay a little duty. I can get boxes or possibly even put it on a pallet. Just called unishippers, waiting for a quote. Can post is another option of course.

crossborderpickups.ca is a good method for shipping wheels to the US for future reference.

I typically go with Canada Post for shipping wheels cross-border. I've always found them cheaper than couriers (UPS, FedEx, etc). Doubling up the wheels together in a single box makes it cheaper. In other words, it's cheaper to send 1 box that is 2x the weight than 2 boxes at 1/2 the weight. But they have a weight limit per package, so if you're shipping tires mounted then you'll probably exceed the max weight if doubling up.

crossborder did it thru UPS and charged $190 CDN to Houston 8 days. Wheels are on the truck for delivery today And they did have tires as well so heavy and big.

I've shipped with these guys before, not cross-border though. Someone from AB shipped an entire axleback exhauast to me in Toronto, pretty reliable and reasonably priced
