Old tracking units will drain the battery, once their own battery becomes weak and then refuses to take any more re-charges it sucks the power directory from the car battery.

Getting the car boosted on Friday and then getting a new battery. I'll let it sleep a couple of more days.

If the battery is really dead, don't drive it more than the bare minimum or else it can wipe out the alternator.

so in case anyone is interested, I took the car in today to Downtown Porsche and got a new battery. They looked over the electrical system and they think part of the problem is that I still have an active boomerang in the car, even though I don't have a contract. I purchased the car from Pfaff and the original owner had an active boomerang account but when the car was sold to me, Pfaff didn't mention that the system was still active so that likely is contributing to the battery drain. Yet another reason for me not to be thrilled with Pfaff. Having the unit removed next week. Also, I have identified an electrical outlet near my underground parking spot but the outlet is being used by the condo for something. I'm going to get a surge protector today so that I can "share" the outlet with the condo and use my trickle charger. I'm not going to tell them since they will likely say no but they shouldn't notice my insignificant borrowing of electricity :-)

Did Downtown load test the battery?

You may not be thrilled with Pfaff, but I wouldn't be thrilled with Downtown either.

What is this "they think"? What, they don't have any skilled techs there that can take a simple measurement? Effing amazing!

I like the previius suggestion of a booster pack and a cig lighter charger as well once you get the new battery.

Booster packs are super handy and there will be a time when it saves the day for you or a friend, and it saves you being slave to an outlet

But just drive it all winter and enjoy instead!

I think this little costly trip to the dealer has changed my mind about driving the car in the winter. It's AWD and I have snows, so I'm going to drive the darn thing.

Just curious. As a DTP customer what was the price of the new battery? I was told it's about $700. Thanks

I am trying to get this point myself. As I get older, I find the only one who benefits from storing a car for the winter is the next guy it's sold to!...and with snows slapped on the C4's, C4S and or Turbos...these cars are amazing.....although my car continues to stay in a heated garage with a trickle charger unitil I muster enough mental energy to drive it in the sludge.....oh vey. I did take the very first step though and put snows on my 19" OEM Turbo rims - which have never seen rain let alone salt.

That's reasonable. thanks. My car was a Pffaf car that I bought from DTP. I hope I too don't have a boomerang. I wonder why DTP is selling Pffaf trade-ins. Usually dealerships love to get get them.
