OT: gas fireplace maintenance
#16
I just had to ignite a stubborn pilot light. On my model I turned the dial to 'pilot' pushed it in and held for a minute while you can hear the gas filling the chamber and it seemed like forever. Then while still holding it keep pressing the igniter button until it lights but keep the pilot button pushed in for a while longer. Then release and turn it to the on position.
The only maintenance is vaccumming behind the service panel and popping open the glass to glean it from the inside. Make sure you use fireplace glass cleaner though.

Jets, I'm no expert in gas fireplace, but you should NOT have to hold the valve in for a minute before igniting, mine ignites within a couple of seconds of pushing the valve in, waiting for a minute would allow accumulation of gas vapor to cause a nasty flash off surprise!
