DRL
Hi everyone, I have been lurking for a while reading and such. Bought a 997 C4S recently and had a question. On stock OEM 997.1's what lights are on when starting the car as part of the daytime running lights? I thought it was just HID headlights. On my car the full lighting system comes on from headlights and parking lights all around. Seems awful stupid to me as it is usually just headlights or just parking lights depending on the make.
My car is originally a US car so wondering if the tech's got a little light crazy when setting up DRL for Canadian compliance on this 997.1
Let me know because it bugs me
Regards,

Same with me. Brought in from the US last summer and had it certified in Ontario at the dealer because it was CPO'd.
All they did was jump wires in the fuse box and all lights are on when the car is running.
I coulda done that! Have a look in the drivers foot well and you'll probably see the wires.
Gonna get me a Durametric next year and see if I can't program the DRL's only.
I saw this DRL module at Maxspeed for $50 that I may try out as well.

You have to be kidding me. Porsche dealer can't even program the car to activate DRL? That's is sort of a butch-type solution. I hope mine is wired that way as it will be easier to /undo. Thanks for the info I will check it out tomorrow.
That module from maxspeed looks like a great solution, I had bought a set of led housings similar to the universal kit they sell for my pickup but never used them. Maybe I'll rig it up on my 997.

On 997 if you have PCM with sport chrono I recall you can config the DRL through that system.
On my 997.1 GT3 I did not have PCM, etc. and used a Durametric to enable them. There was a single config option for DRL and there was no customization (that i found) of what lights to turn on or not. I think that your tech did all that PCNA has provided for configuration.

My car does not have sport chrono. It was all done through the cars computer so I will have to get the car re-programmed to eliminate the DRL at Pfaff. Thank you all for the input.
I just do not like having simple/full control over the lighting system in the car. I mean, there really no point of having a light switch on the dash if all the lights are always on anyway right??? Meh
