Default Michelin ads in French

Every time I visit RL now, I'm getting these pop up ads for Michelin, in French...very annoying. Anyone else getting these?

Using Firefox...checked Preferences/Content and checked block pop up ads - seems to have stopped the ads, but could have sworn that was checked before.

I usually ignore the banner ads...The worst onces are the Jaguar Canada ads
that interfere with the forum layout; refreshing the page is the only fix...

And this is why I disagree with paying for a membership.

I've never had an issue with ads... they always stay put at the top of my page and don't interfere with browsing the forum - occasionally they'll catch my eye but that's what they're there for!

The paid membership is well worth whatever it cost (I don't even remember) considering the amount of value I get out of the forum. I'm pretty sure I've spent more money on less valuable things!

Oh, I'm using safari.

I don't see pop up ads in RL, and I don't have any ad blocking software installed.

The only thing I see at the top of the page is the Sprint Booster ad, taunting me to buy one!

Christien, Rennlist is largely a member supported site. If you would like to compare, please visit 6speedonline.com which is also owned by Internet Brands. It is a free site. Check out the ads there and then tell me about membership

My main comparison is to pelican, which is also free, hardly any ads (certainly no pop ups - they wouldn't be tolerated) and has significantly more content.

Playing devils advocate:

Pelican makes it's money on parts sales, the forum supports the parts business and vice-versa.

Yep, and rennlist is advertiser-supported. But either it's paid for by advertisers or by users, not by both. IMO, that's unfair to the users.

Its like anything else - worth paying for if you get value. I find it to be a way for the virtual and real communities to act as one, and that is a unique advantage,so its worthwhile to pay for it. I use Safari or Chrome,no pop ups
