Mosport renamed
Canadian Tire Motorsports Park
Long term naming rights
IMHO it is the first step towards the Nationwide series arriving in 2013.
It will always be Mosport to most but sponsorship and naming rights is not unusual for race tracks. Paying bills is ok as long as track upgraded. Noticed a photo of a strip of new pavement down through corner four - trying to find out if this was a repair or was widened.
The old days... (crapped my pants under the old bridge once while going backwards...)

Wonder why they wouldn't have tried to leave the "Mosport" in there somewhere. IMO, would have been good for the sponsor as well, cause we all know that it will take a few generations before "Mosport" is dropped from the lingo.
Man, 4 to 5 sure was tight.

To bad about the name change...People associate a name with a place...changing the name (like all sport centers) causes some confusion. Mosport has been the name longer than I have been alive...guess that is better than the track shutting down

Too bad. What a disappointment it is to hear this news of a name change. I'm hoping that some of the derrogatory slang names for cdn. tire don't rub off on the track. Mosport deserves better than that. To me, she will always be called Mosport. Seems everyone is too quick to throw away heritage and history these days. I can see the name for the oval track, that suits their business, but not the famed former F1 road course circuit.
