I don't get why people pay ridiculous prices for oil changes. There are so many indie shop around that will do it for what, $150 for synthetic? Personally, I've never had an oil change done on any Porsche I've ever owned, except the 944 at a jiffy lube, because I couldn't get the drain plug off. I always DIY in the garage - 2 911s, boxster, 944 (after that first one), hell, even did the old Ford Explorer in the garage. I take the Honda to the dealership because it's $40 and free coffee. I can't buy the oil and filter for that at Canadian Tire, never mind the labour. But >$300?

993s actually require 11 quarts of Mobil 1 and two oil filters.

That's already over $150 in supplies. It's the rest of the $320, I was bitching about :-)

dont they charge at least $110/hr in labour so with tax etc your not far off the $320 anyways? the 993's a little trickier for an oil change. i just did my 997 oil change though - real easy

I never used G Tek for my 996 or 964 and I lived around the corner from them. Just found his pricing all over.

Hunter is in Mississauga, Mattawa Ave, off Dundas on the other side of 427. Personally I think he's a little pompous. Went to see him about my 964 and he told me I was better off selling it since it was the older model without the updated cylinder rings. He didn't even see the car, seemed too preoccupied with the race stuff he had going on to bother discussing my car with me.

I know Jay Lloyds personally and he is a great guy. Very knowledgeable about Porsche and worked with a few different race teams around the world. He's a little pricey but knows his stuff and VERY straight forward, doesn't like short cuts even if you ask him to he won't. He drives a beautiful black 993. Only problem is he's hit or miss if he's gonna be there, doesn't keep normal hours. He's a one man show so sometimes he off picking up parts or something. But he's always got a lot of cars he's working on.

$240 for Mobile 1 on a 996 or 993?

993 requires 11 Qrts and two filters

996 is only 8.5 Qrts and one filter.

Agree with 911Porshefan about Jay Lloyd. Very knowlegable but also pricey. Seems to do good work when you can get a hold of him. Don't expect him to get the car back to you very quickyl and he will not give any quotes for work unless he's worked on the car previously. He says there's always something wrong with them and that need to be fixed. I'm too embarrassed to tell you how much he charged me when I went to see him for what I thought was something straightforward. I trust him to do the work but not sure if its worth the extra dollars. Big advantage is he is close to subway.

EU Autowerks is my first choice. I've taken my 996 and 968 to them and never had an issue. Prices were reasonable and work was done when they said it would be done. Dominic is very courteous and professional. Nice guy. Just a little too far but for any major work in the future I think I will be going to them.

Brent at Hunter Motorsports is good but also difficult to get since he is so busy. Really nice guy. Also a bit too far for me.

GTEK is ok but I didn't get a good feel with Jack. Found an electrical problem I had and fixed it for a reasonable amount. I will probably try him again.

I met Henry at Refined Motorsports and checked out his shop. A little messy I thought. It was a toss up between going here and Lloyds and I went with Lloyds. May have been better to go to Henry.

Bestline Auto is my choice, for service and price... they also have 2 cups running in the U.S. and Canadian GT3 Cup Challenge series.
