It wouldn't be an issue, because you wouldn't be importing it to Canada. The car wouldn't be allowed to "live" here technically, but there's no limit as to how long a person (or a car) can visit the country, and there's no law that says the owner of the car has to be with the car. Think of what snowbirds do - most have Ontario plates on a car in Florida that may never see Canadian roads again. Or they could do the opposite, register it in Florida and drive it here 6 months of the year. Nothing wrong with that, as far as I know.

Just wondering if that is taxable aswell? Bringing cash back (greater then $10k is it?) resulting from a sale, isn't that subject to duties? Just curious.

not taxable but you must declare it, or it can be seized.

the border have infinite authority, to search detain or anything else, it is the one place where you are considered guilty until proven innocent.

...the Cdn customs agents treat you as if you're trying to cheat...Bio Banker
I imported my car at Coutts, which is not a friendly station. When it was my turn, I placed my 2 centimetre thick purchase file, and a thin import file, right on the counter in front of the young agent, so he could see that I had lots and lots of paper.

There were no issues.

Dumb *** ! Maybe it WAS the guy who posted on here that he wanted to cheat the Gov. out of duty fees ? Dumb ***.
That`s about as smart as driving across border, installing new wheels and tires and driving back as soon as it`s done.Do ya not think that the Customs peep`s look for this stuff ? Ah, they doooo !
I live close to that Border crossing. The Custom guys and gals there will forgive some grocery day shopping duty. Hey, they do it themselves. No booze, no smokes or weapons...? Your good to go.

I imported a C4S in 2008 and a Harley this spring. Both at Lewiston crossing and never had any troubles. US side a little grumpy, but efficient. Canadian side very friendly. In both importations was through the paper work on both sides in less than an hour. Never questioned on price, although both were purchased at dealers (Porsche and Harley dealer). In both cases had the Bill of Sale and Wire Transfer paperwork with me.

I just did. Once you pass the 15-year-old mark, the RIV team stops caring. Still a lot of other paperwork and fees to deal with, but one less is always good ...

Hi Slangford. Welcome to the forum. It is customary for new users/members to introduce themselves and their rides in a separate thread. Its considered to be good manners around here. And dont forget the pictures.
