Default Flat Head Jack Stands

Hey guys I recall a thread a while ago about flat head jack stands, if you're still interested... check these out.

http://www.harborfreight.com/5-ton-s...ack-99953.html

I just place an order for 4 at $15.02 each, the price is only good untill tomorrow night. The Harbour Freight web site did not allow me to place the order online so I called the 1-800 line (India) at mid night to place the order, it came out to $75 ($9.99 shipping + tax) for the 4 shipped to my alternate shipping address at in Niagara Falls NY.

Judging by the pic, I wonder if u would get enough lift with those stands to actually do any work? Standard 2ton jackstands seem to lift to 16" or so... those ones only to 13" and a bit.... that's pretty tight.

Those jacks look cute and all but at 13" inches of maximum lift i doubt your wheels will even lift off the ground ...
I measured some of my regular 1.5 ton axle stands and they start at 13 inches !
Just sayin ...

Cheers !

Your comments ware noted but I'm looking forward to picking them up and working with them, remember this is an FYI if you're interested don't shoot the messenger.
I already have a variety of jack stands in my garage including sets of 2.5, 3 and 6 ton stands. The 2.5 tons are the only ones with heads flat enought to use the the hockey pucks as someone had posted in another thread. The max height is just short of 14 inches but then again more than 90% of the time I don't need to extend my jack stands past that height to work on my 944 or my BMW, I believe these will be great addition to my collection . plus I got then for a great price.

One of my concerns has always being the damage that can occur when you are putting the car on the jack stands, the car will sit at an angle and while doing so the edges of the jackstands can contact the soft undercarage at an angle, this can cause pressure points that can damage / bend the undercarrage, if you have done this you will know where I'm comming from, if not then good luck that it never happens to you. These jackstands in addition to having a flat head, also has several advantages, a head that swivels to minimizes the pressure points even when the car is sitting at an angle, and the height is adjustable by screw so the height can be adjusted minutely compared to the teeths of a standard jack stand, even pressure can be applied to support the car.

Mark,

My comment about the raised height wasn't meant in any way to shoot the messenger,it was merely an observation ...lol
If i could make a FYI suggestion,Canadian Tire has a more than decent 3 ton floor jack on sale this week for $129.00 instead of $235 .00,i picked one up yesterday and it even has a flat top with a rubber pad that will complement your new jack stands very well

Cheers !
