Lift Peeps - garage door raising
Hey you lift people,
How much was it to convert your existing garage door to one that runs on a high track?
Got a recommendation from a neighbor for a local door company. Just spoke w them on the phone, he's done it before, and says it's $750 ballpark to put new tracks for the doors that are closer to the rafters.
IIRC, my rafters are about 9'10" from the garage floor.
Currently the track is less than 8' off the ground.
Thx,
Peter

Well I have spent some time over at Garage Journal Forum and the word there is if you have the ceiling height and a low door you can move the chain/ shaft drive to one side or the other. the theory is the door is sprung and if you were to open manually, that can be done from the centre or either side if that is where your handle/lock is. All they say is a small custom bracket at top corner ( left or right side ) and move your opener to that side. This should provide enough clearance for the vehcile to be raised between the tracks / opener. I have not yet tried this but it is on my to do list for this summer.
your results may very, just passing on information yada yada.....

Clears any obstructions right above the center of the lift. So you can have full height for the cabin area of the vehicles. On Sedans/Coupes, the trunk and hood require less clearance.
Might be tricky in the CRV.
I could pull the vehicle in, close the door, and then raise the vehicle to work on it.... prefer to work with the door open for more natural light.
