My new tire machine!

nice machine, hopefully it pays it self off for you. though you still got to get the tires off the car with no damage. The more high end cars you do with painted calipers also have to be careful. I had one Burlington tire shop, chip my caliper and refuse to have it repainted. That was when I was paying 500 a rear tire and was a good customer that required 2 sets a year. plus my wifes ride.
They lost me after that.

Do you own a shop in Ottawa?
Check it out!!! Completely touchless and automated tire installer directly from italy! We were trained on it today and I can safely say that even a monkey couldn't damage your rims using this baby.
It used to take a skilled installer 1.5-2 hours to install sub 40 profile tires and all it took was one slip and the tire or rim could be damaged. I've never personally installed a wheel and using this machine I mounted and dismounted a 305/30ZR19 PS2 tire in about 10 minutes..... SWEET!

There are lots of capable tire shops around and not just tire shops. My mechanic routinely deals with rubber like that with no problems. Even the gas station guys in Tremblant (Matte) could do a decent job. My buddy routinely used them for 35 profile tires as he was doing events when Touchette was around.
Just because CT has a license to work on cars doesn't mean you should let your car ever be anywhere but the parking lot there.
My main rule with mechanics: "Don't be the guy that introduces new things to the mechanic".

Wow... I'm not quite sure how to respond to this... lol. Maybe you missed the post where I mention I'm a service manager at a Canadian Tire store. The shop in Kanata routinely does work on the owners R8 and C4S.
$6.99 road hazard warranty and pricing that beats the tire rack.... I have 4 stacks of hoosiers and 2 stacks of MPSC tires in front of my service counter.

But if your place is like that then good for you. Too bad the brand is tarnished by all the other places that ruin people's cars.
I would not even imagine anyone at CT would know what MPSC tires are. Good to know you exist.
Where is your store?

Ottawa. Smokin' prices on hoosiers too! (no road hazard warranty)
The stores are getting more and more aggressive about attracting all kinds of special order tires. In the last 12 months they've dropped the retail price on Michelin PS2 by almost $200 each (in this case a 305.30R19). Many of the stores are buying equipment like this because now even a Mazda comes with 45 series tires and trucks have 20" rims on a regular basis.
I can't speak for every store out there but if it we were that bad we wouldn't be in business. Remember, we have about 20% of the canadian market share for tires, that means we serve A LOT of customers each year and my 5% of upset customers probably out number, say, Touchette's 5% of angry customers by sheer volume. Canadian tires probably screws up less than 'Joe's Garage' but that would be difficult to prove.

And you underestimate Touchette. Where you might have some Hoosiers and Michelins in stock they are actually the distributor for these tires. Almost anyone in Quebec installing a high end Michelin tire got them out of Touchette warehouse. Most of the tires that a special order almost everywhere are just in stock there. They also do quite good alignments. Can you do a track alignment with the customer not knowing the exact specs?
It's nice that CT finally realized that high end customers do exist. But other guys like Touchette, Talon, and a whole bunch of track oriented shops were serving that market just fine. People who were new to having low profile tires didn't know about them too much and ended up with damaged equipment by going to random places and often CT.

Of course you get a lot of customers. You are the most visible place that offers the service and have a brand name. Same with McDonalds. Many people don't know of any other place and visiting a 'Joe's Garage' without references from others in the know is more risky.

Although I have the equipment and skill to line up these cars any way you want, I'm not going after that business. I'm not even going after the tire business aggressively. I have much respect for the shops that service these cars on a regular basis but it just doesn't make logistical sense for me to go after that kind of work at the moment.
All I've said is that our road hazard warranty is second to none ($6.99 for free replacement for any manufacturer or road hazard issue) and our tire pricing if very good.

Just wondering what your shop is doing with old machine and if you would consider selling ... price ? what make and model ( is it a Coats - rim clamp ). I would love one in my garage at home.
