Unfortunately, CT advertising wants to use the lowest price to attract traffic. That's why they do silly things like advertise 'Buy one, get one 50% off' business but then price them tires at 25% each. The math works out the same but it's easy for customers to misunderstand. No different than them advertising the price of the smallest, cheapest tire in the flyer then footnoting 'and up'.

The balancing is the same. Each region has different labour rates and pricing. Here in Ottawa we're at $13/tire for balancing and a door rate of $95, where as rural ontario may only be $8/tire because their door rate is only $65. Stores are free to set their own labour rates so it wouldn't make sense for CT to advertise prices 'installed/balanced'. The bottom line is that we're usually one of the cheapest suppliers out there and have over 20% of the market share in Canada for that very reason.

Regardless, I've done the comparison shop. We're very competitive.

PS2 P265/40ZR18 + P235/40ZR18

CTC $1528 CAD + $28 warranty + $52 install ($1608)

Tire Rack $1466 USD + $160 warranty + $125 install ($1751)

Prices don't include 13% HST or TSF ($5.86/tire) which they will charge you at the border. Tire rack price includes shipping to Ogdensburg, NY.

Tire rack road hazard warranty is $160, CTC warranty $28.

Bring the tires to CTC to have them installed if you buy at tire rack $125, install tires bought at CTC $52.

How much is your tank of gas, waiting in border lines, paying UPS store to receive tires (now $5/tire/day in ogdensburg) worth to you? Not to mention the aggravation of it all, heaven forbid something happens to the tire!

Want hoosiers? Pilot Sport Cup? I can get those too!

Adam, with the $$ I saved today on my two front rotors, I am sold on CT. Was planning to get a set of Girodiscs from SCB, but with what I've spent so far, I'll wait a bit.

So, ballpark for HooHoos and Cups in 235/40, 295/30? You can PM if you want.

What does it cover, or better yet, do you have a link to the CT road hazard warranty?

More than just competitive.

You quoted me $1268.67 including HST.
1010 Tires in BC: $1421.95 including shipping, insurance and HST.
Tire Rack: $1163 including shipping, duty, HST, UPS Store fees.

For $105, I wouldn't bother after taking into account the road hazard and installation rate you offer.

As for the gas, time, etc to drive to the nearest UPS Store, in my case it is well worth it. I place large orders and the tax savings on the money saved more than pays the gas and bridge tolls.

Manufacturer defects, road hazards (any type), free road side tire change (1). Theoretically, it covers uneven wear which may be a result of mfg defect. Much like our battery warranty, it's at the discretion of the shop to determine if it's a warrantiable issue. I only really decline the warranty if I believe it's being abused.

If a tire replacement is necessary you'll repay for the warranty, the TSF and the balancing (At our shop, about $21 per corner).

It's a great program and will stay that way as long as we don't abuse it. Expect it to creep up in price over te next few years as tire prices get higher but it'll be years before it's over $10 a tire.

Most of my GT3 guys are using 245/315 but I can get you $$$ on those sizes. I'll look into the MPSC too.

Turns out the $70 instant rebate is good for 4 more weeks too. (won't be advertised inflyer anymore though). Quote to come.

Thanks Adam, Cups are only available in 235/295, but a bit wider, especially in the front would be nice.

How about the Kuhmo V710?

I can 'get' anything. My pricing won't be as good on anything that isn't coming right from the mfgr.

Michelin
BFG
Pirelli
Hankook

May have misses one or two but we're adding companies on a regular basis.
