Default OT Parking Ticket

I got a $60 parking ticket on Sunday, despite using the best of my intelligence to ascertain it was (I thought) totally legal...

Anyways, the a-hole who wrote the ticket put Asuna in stead of Audi.

Can I get off on this technicality?

Any advice?

I don't mind paying for a parking ticket when I deserve it, but I sware, Einstein himself would have had trouble determining the legality behind this one.

Close right?

Make sure it's a legal ticket and not one of these companies hired for private property.
If they get your plate correct - then the issue comes to a head after you get your second notice of unpaid fine - they forward the plate # to MTO and you can't get your sticker until the fine is paid. I don't what would happen if the plate does not match up to the car type?

I was thinking of challenging it because of the incorrect make / model. They cannot prove I was there if they can't even get the make right.... right?

Not an expert in these matters. The error appears significant and I would approach the authority directly and ask for consideration.

but that also means that I have to take time out of my workday to go fight it in person.

Either way, I lose big time.

I should be able to do this over the phone or something

You just got home from a business trip this afternoon and noticed your plates were stolen. $20 for new plates is cheaper than $60 for the ticket. Done and done.

A few hours 'off' work, $20 to park depending where you work in relation to the courthouse etc. typically translates into a call to the automated teller at 416-397-TAGS or whatever the number is and giving them your Visa #. I believe you also still have to go to a court office to inform them that you wish to fight the ticket - so more time off work, parking etc. A license for the city to print $ IMO.

Hard to say without more info,... since this is a not moving offence and for no points I'd take a lesser fine and save my energies to fight moving offences. IMO just go to the court house on the ticket, they usually have someone on hand to make your plead... take a lesser fine and get the hell outta Dodge... again parking offences aren't worth getting bent outa shape about.

Just saying... .

If its the City Of Toronto, go File a Court Date... You will never get a Court Date for Ticket under $110 in the City Of Toronto, been doing it for Years... I have personnaly must have Filed for 15+ Curt Dates in teh last 6-7 Years, never Recived a Court Date... Best place to go to is Yonge and Sheppard City Hall, never busy

PS: Technicallity like that dont count, now they all Take Pictures while writing Tickets...

I partly agree with Zookie. I have requested court for many tickets over the years and never except recently have I been given a court date. I had a court date a few months ago for a ticket for my wife and I couldn't make it. So you should request a court.

I've been doing the same thing. However they have caught up on tickets. I've been booking court dates and in the past 6 months I received 6 court dates that were for tickets issued in the past 9 months.
