Default Sunday drivers

Coming back from a dinner tonight in Ancaster on 403 many cars were pointing in the wrong direction. Between hwy 6 and Aldershot I counted five separate collisions some single but most multi-car. Thats about a 5 km stretch. The road was completely snow covered. I exited at that point because the traffic stopped and took Plains Road and Fairview. Much better and only saw two cars off the road the rest of the way home.

Wondering whats it's like where you are?

Drove to London and back today. Terrible through the Woodstock area - saw one guy fresh into the centre median ditch, came about 180* counter-clockwise. You could see the whole thing in the marks in the snow/slush. Another off the right side of the road, couldn't see the car (steep embankment) but there was a cop at the side of the road.

But all around here it was fine, both leaving this morning and coming home. Didn't even realize at one point I was doing 140 until I looked down.

My normal commuter car right now is an 05 Smart cabrio, but days like this week I've been driving AWD/4x4s. Hurts like hell at the gas station, but way less stressful.

Hey Christien, I'm curious to know how the smart drives in the snow as well as your over all impression. Price of an '05?

EDIT: So not to hijack Jim's thread you can PM me.

Not really any experience with much snow yet, except driving it around the lot today in 4" of wet slush/snow, regular tires, and it drives like you would expect a 1300lb 2WD car to drive in those conditions - like crap. All the 2WD cars were getting stuck, even the cargo vans. On the highway at speed it's fine, except on super windy days. Here's a good article:
http://www.canadiandriver.com/2010/0...whitehorse.htm

As for prices, they're dirt cheap. This one has 84k km, cabrio, we have it listed at $6995 with lots of room to bargain it, so prices are cheap. We've got an 09, loaded, 9200 km (that's not a typo) for 12.9, again tons of room. I'm absolutely in love with them - not just the fuel mileage, but they're a quirky kind of car, with personality, that engages the driver, at least more than your usual turn the key put it in D car.

was out to Waterloo, then Fergus, then back home to Heidelberg on Sunday afternoon..... No issues... didn't see anyone in the ditch.... The roads were snowpacked most of the way home from Fergus...

Roads this morning were snowpacked, with some pretty icy spots on my commute to Stratford from Hberg....

I think we got close to 8" of fallen snow throughout the day in Heidelberg....

A guy in a Nissan Altima did a 540 pirouette in front of me on the 427 on-ramp at Evans Ave. this morning. It was kinda amusing to see his horrified face as he did everything wrong to stop the spin including hitting the brakes mid-turn (which induced the spin)!
I just aimed for where he had been and drove around in my surefooted C4S!
