Wonderful. Yet another way to get ripped off. I make my living off crime, but I truly hate thieves. There are many more ways to get stuff stolen though. The most obvious is at the Supermarket where ladies typically set their purse on the top of the buggy. Thieves know this and boost the wallets out of the handbags and the problem isn't obvious until the checkout. Mostly the thieves work in tandem. Be careful out there.

Interesting. Obviously both the US and CAN governments knows of the risk since my Nexxus trusted traveler card came with a copper lined sleeve that you are "encouraged" to use to store the card in at all times.
The irony is that the same "trusted traveler" card sets off the metal detector in airports if left in my pocket!

The RFID's can be shielded simply by putting an aluminum foil wrap around them. It creates a Farady cage and the same technique is used to wrap communications rooms in sensitive buildings. Glass can be shielded in the same manner. It is how the copper works in Phils Nexus card pouch.
However as noted there are many ways to get ripped off. I am reminded of a seminar given by a Hamilton Police officer to a Credit Union crowd. He asked. What do the letters ATM stand for? After many incorrect responses he revealed the answer. Alternate Theft Method.
