Wow, 150k on an 07? That's almost 40k a year. Most minivans don't have that kind of mileage. Good price on an 07S, though I wouldn't buy it without a thorough PPI.

So, noone at RL knows the car.
This car could have been on the road for 4 and a half years now. I have 35K on my 2010 C4S. At this rate I'll have the same mileage.
I was thinking first carfax, used vehicle report, all import papers, all maintanance records, detailed pics of every painted panel, etc... to start off. Then, if satisfactory, proceed to a complete PDI, including the paint thickness scan. Then, if passed, negotiate the price a little more, and then drive out to pick up the car check in hand. If it passes the test drive, drive it home. Otherwise, just go for a drink with local rennlisters.
Christian, providing everything checks out, what would be the trade in value for this car right now?
Thanks

It's hard to tell, because I'd never have a car that new with that kind of mileage in inventory, unless it was an absolute steal. Average mileage is 20k km per year, maybe 25 at the most, so if this were a Toyota or something and had an early in-service date, I could see it having as much as 110k km. 150k would make it a high-mileage unit, for a daily-driver type. For a Porsche, it would really put it into taxi territory. Figure retail on an 07S with average mileage (30k) would be in the mid-70s, I think he's got this car priced realistically.
I don't think any dealer would take it on trade for more than 20 or 25, because they'd be sitting on it for quite a while, and would need the option of blowing it out at 30, just to get rid of it. Remember, to a dealer there's no real joy in having a 997 in the inventory (compared to you or I having it in our garage). It's just inventory, and at 40k I could have 2 Lexus's, or a really nice BMW or MB that I could move much faster than an extremely high mileage 911.

Got it. So, unless this thing proves to be in an absolute condition in every aspect, AND for about $35K this can be considered.
Thanks a ton. I'll let you guys know what happens.

40K km a year has to be all highway. Typical for a commuter car. I love commuter cars, they last a lot longer than city driven ones. At 150K km, this car should have as much wear as a city driven one with 50K km. If you can get it for really cheap and the PPI checks out and no major issues are found, go for it.

I went to look at it today.
It's ok , a few scratches here and there.. 8.5 is fair. The wheels are new. The inside is in good shape. The tint job is poor.. I would get it removed. My guys say a 997 clutch needs replacing at 70k. His is replaced but we don't know when.
Radio facia is scratched. Overall it's in decent shape. (visually).
Nice guy.. Sells lots of porsches. (claims to).
For 17k more you get a 2 year warranty 06s with 30,000km
It is a curve ball to think about.

For 7k more you can get an 06 S Black on brown with 36km. If it were summer season I would not even mention it to you guys as I would purchase it right away but it wouldn't be a good idea to drive it back to Nova Scotia now.

The 36k one Is in worse shape than this one..
You pay for what you get.
The terracotta color is the deal breaker for me.
The leather looks "more used" than my 2001 996.
Pictures looked amazing on the web site. But in real life it's not the same.
Very nice people at Paul motors. I would purchase from them.

Thats the problem with most used cars. Either the mileage is high and there is no paper trail to support proper maintanance. Or the mileage is ok, but the condition is crapy. Or the color combo is either boring or too wild. Or, whats worse, the seller is unrealistic with the asking price. Or any combination of the above. It can take years to find the right example. But when you have the itch, you cant wait to scratch it. Thats what my brother is going through right now. To make matters worse, I bought his litle guy a ride-on Porsche and said "Look, your kid's got a Porsche and you dont".![evilgrin](https://rennlist.com/forums/graemlins/evilgrin.gif)
BTW, if you like window shopping for a Porsche and find a nice 997.1 for $40-$50K, post a link.
Thanks to all

In my experience, it's both seller and buyer that are unrealistic. The seller has emotional attachment, and thinks their car is the greatest in the world (I've been guilty of that), and the buyer wants a brand new car at used car prices, and will hammer any flaw to get a lower price. It's been said before, the best deal is when nobody feels they got a good deal.
