Porsche isn't building it for us. They are in the business of creating collector cars now. They'll sell all 15 of them at that price no problem. If they built only 2 they could charge $300,000.
all used and more than 356 examples... but as for the Mclaren, thats a diffrent Story
Yeah, but I really don't care about the exclusivity of a 997 Speedster for a 1/4 million dollars. If I want machinery as an investment piece....I'd go with classic cars that have that value in them. They look better and have a much better presence. If I wanted performance, the newer pre-owned cars would walk this Speedster.
Maybe it's me, but I don't get it. All these 'special edition' 911's just don't seem too special to me.

It's probably because they're so carefully planned out...or at least appear carefully planned out. Like 356 997 Speedsters. How many 964 Speedsters were there. Some odd number and apparently nobody knows for sure how many 964 WB Speedsters were made. That's cool. There's a bit of mystery to it...truly "special".
I still think this is a cool car but at an outrageous price. The new GTS though strikes me as a great deal and a real keeper. In fact, I'm going to head to the dealer this week and see what's involved with ordering one (deposit, built slot).
As far as appreciation, best to purchase a 356 Speedster as they are on an immediate upward path. You'll need to keep the 997 Speedster for a long, long time to see appreciation and the opportunity cost of your dough makes it a bad investment decision.

I find the 356 examples and silly stuff like that is nothing but a marketing gimmick to make this car seem to be more special than it really is. If the car itself was truly special, they would not have to 'carefully plan out' the # of examples and such to catch the eye of a potential buyer. Perhaps the history of Porsche is so rich but the future is clouded and uncertain...they need to play off the past to sell in the future?
Again, I'm not their target audience because I think it's nothing special but an overpriced 911.
Lol, I'm an idiot when it comes to cars, but even I'm smart enough to stay away from the GT2RS, GTS and this POS. They're all depreciation bombs awaiting the foolish.
Well doesn't the 16M depreciate pretty quickly? I know of 2 other people in GTA that has one so it's not as exclusive as Ferrari made it sound with only 499 made.

Not as much as these train wrecks that Porsche will be producing. Atleast the 16M is based on something that has different DNA from the 'regular joe schmo' version.
