I remember trying to explain this to SOOO many people... a 4x4 is not AWD, and AWD is not a 4x4.

In the winter, with my truck, in 4x4 low... I don't even touch the gas and can get out of almost anything. However, if you turn the steering wheel and back up on 4x4 low, it can cost you a lot of money. 4x4 has it's advantages, but AWD is a totally different animal and varies greatly between manufactuers and models... most AWD systems are junk IMHO and not worth the money. I would rather spend the money on a good set of snow tires and keep my foot on the gas.
